    Description

    The Cedar Cliff Local School District is seeking instructional paraprofessionals to serve in the classroom or special education program setting and 1-on-1 with students.


    Employment Status:
    Part Time or Full Time


    FLSA Status:
    Non-Exempt

    Qualifications: 1. Valid driver's license.


    • Appropriate State of Ohio certification.
    • High school graduate or equivalent, preferably with one year of
    college training or currently enrolled in a teacher education program


    • Demonstrates a sincere desire to aid all students.
    • Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record.
    • Such additional qualifications as The Board of Education may find appropriate.
    • At the discretion of the Board of Education alternate job
    qualifications may be substituted.

    General Description:

    To help, assist, and give aid/support for the effective and efficient operation of the classroom and to the teacher in the learning-teaching process so students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.


    Essential Functions:

    • Works with students, individually, and in small groups under the supervision of a certificated teacher.
    • Aids students with their tasks, reads to students, listens to students read, conducts activities that work to maintain previous teaching.
    • Helps students move from one activity to another in the classroom.
    • Assists with seat work.
    • Assists with supervision of youngsters at recess, breaks, and so forth.
    • Helps children with programmed materials.
    • Assists teacher with checking of individual skills of children.
    • Plays learning games.
    • Assists students who were absent in make-up work.
    • Promotes good social relationships between children.
    • Responds to students in a kind, fair, and interested manner.
    • Reinforces school rules to children.
    • Aids students with getting in and out of wearing apparel and footwear.
    • Prepares materials for class projects.
    • Assists in maintaining bulletin boards and displays.
    • Prepares masters for duplicating.
    • Duplicates materials for class.
    • Grades papers - limited to rote type work.
    • Distributes communiques to be sent home with the children.
    • Administers first-aid services to children.
    • Takes daily attendance and lunch count; collects lunch and milk monies as requested.
    • Handles correspondence.
    • Supervises general housekeeping duties.
    • Makes school-related telephone calls for the teacher which do not concern discipline or academics.
    • Assists the teacher in supervision of various classroom activities, field trips, and so forth.
    • Assists in setting up and operation of audio-visual equipment.
    • Assists students in the library media center.
    • Serves as main source of information and help to substitute teacher.
    • Alerts the teacher to any problem or special information she/he may have about a student.
    • Participates in relevant in-service education programs as directed by the building
    principal.


    • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior, confidentiality of information about students,
    staff, and parents.


    Other Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings;
    • Helps instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values; and
    • Conducts other duties related to the aide's duties as assigned by the principal and/or local superintendent.

    ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
    • Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
    • Occasional interaction among unruly children.
