Materials ManagerPosition Summary:
Seeking a Materials Manager/Purchasing Manager that will have materials manager responsibilities for the day-to-day operations, with the ability to perform as a strong purchasing manager capable of negotiation and relationship building.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages the Purchasing staff as needed.
Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
Prepares and processes purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
Resolves grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers
Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize inventory control and ensure timely availability of materials and supplies.
Manage vendor relationships, including sourcing new suppliers, negotiating contracts, and evaluating performance.
Coordinates with supply chain management activities, including forecasting demand, monitoring inventory levels, and coordinating logistics.
Analyze market trends and pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to ensure quality, delivery, and compliance with contractual agreements.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills:
Excellent vendor management skills, including the ability to negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships.
Proficient in supply chain management techniques, including forecasting, demand planning, and logistics coordination.
Demonstrated ability to analyze market trends and pricing data to make informed purchasing decisions.
Strong contract negotiation skills with the ability to develop favorable terms and conditions.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and manage multiple priorities.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others.
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Understanding of business and management principles.
Thorough understanding of materials and supplies used in the company.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Strong knowledge of inventory control principles and practices
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in related field required.
At least five years of experience in related field required.
Negotiation: 5 years (Required)
Purchasing: 5 years (Required)
Experience in Industry 4.0 technologies
Proficient in strategic buying, logistics, and cost-savings for all the plants.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs.
