Family Promise of Southwest NJ has been assisting families with housing instabilities since2005. Family Promise was awarded a grant from the NJ DCA DHC-Eviction Prevention Office for
the purpose of hiring Eviction Resource Navigators for Burlington, Gloucester, Cumberland, and
Salem Counties as part of their Comprehensive Eviction Defense and Diversion Program.
The Eviction Resource Navigator is responsible to assist Tenants and Landlords and work
together to prevent homelessness and preserve tenancies. The Eviction Resource Navigator
must have a strong ability to coordinate with other agencies, the courts, landlords, and rental
management companies as needed to assist clients in reaching their goals of preserving housing
and achieving and maintaining housing stability. This position will work to prevent evictions
through mediation, stabilization, and referrals to community resources. The Eviction Resource
Navigator will report to the CEO of Family Promise of Southwest.
Main responsibilities include:
Resource Navigators will actively liaise with NJ Department of Community Affairs, Division of
Housing & Community Resources
- Eviction Prevention staff and court staff to access referrals
Resource Navigators are responsible for compiling an active case list by performing eviction risk
screening with tenants facing eviction.
Resource Navigators will coordinate with the Legal Team to identify clients in need of legal
services.
Resource Navigators will directly assist eligible households with flex finding, rental assistance
prevention, relocation or rapid re-housing, housing navigator support, access to consumer debt
related support, as necessary or appropriate.
Resource Navigators will regularly liaise with local government and community organization
representatives, such as the Board of Social Services and Continuum of Care, to identify
potential resources and connect tenants with all available resources.
Resource Navigators will connect households facing judgments of possession to emergency
rental assistance vouchers for rapid re-housing where available and other resources.
Resource Navigators will compile intake and case management data for monthly reporting by
the 15 th of the following month.
Resource Navigators are required to enter all intake information and progress notes into HMIS
(Homeless Management Information System.) Knowledge of HMIS a plus.
Resource Navigators work with diverse populations and are sensitive to working with families of
diverse racial and cultural backgrounds, and an understanding of the culture of poverty is
necessary.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree Required with related work experience dealing in housing-related, social
services, legal services, or other services involving those living in poverty or working with
disenfranchised populations.
Competencies for this position include the ability to: work across traditional organizational
boundaries, work collegiality and effectively with a wide range of agency and external
employees, ranging from front-line employees to court, attorneys, and executive-level leaders.
Ability to respond to both opportunities and obstacles with agility and flexibility to keep clients
on track. Thrive in fast-paced settings and remain collaborative and results-driven in the face of
obstacles.
Accurate records and case documentation, able to write clear and concise reports.
Exercise sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.
Ability to acquire substantial knowledge of federal and state housing policy, read and interpret
and legal interpretations.

Salary:
$65,000
This is a full-time position, which is funded for twelve months. The job description is not
intended to describe, in detail, the multitude of tasks that may be assigned from time to time,
but rather to give the employee a general sense of the responsibilities and expectations of his
or her position. The nature of the position requires flexibility on the part of and good
communication between the employee, coworkers, and supervisor or manager. funding,
operations, and staffing changes, so may the essential functions of this position.
