Security's Primary Purpose and Function
The Security Officer is responsible for providing security services at assigned locations with a focus on observing and reporting.

Duties include, but are not limited to monitoring and reporting all activity, conducting foot patrols, vehicular patrols, golf cart patrols, and/or bicycle patrol of applicable interior and/or exterior areas; reporting suspicious activities, suspicious persons, writing detailed narrative reports, maintaining daily activity reports (DAR's), enforcing post orders, site rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and responding to emergency situations requiring security assistance.

Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use both hands, is frequently required to stand, sit, stoop, talk, and hear (communicate verbally in person and via telephone and/or applicable twoway radio equipment) and must be able to read computer screens, correspondence, and reports in English.
  • Must be able to write handwritten reports in the field in clear, legible English.
  • Must be willing and able to wear the proper uniform at all times (which includes providing his/her own black socks, shoes, and belt), maintaining good personal hygiene and grooming to meet company standards, and present self in a professional, wellgroomed manner (to include, maintaining a clean and neat uniform, clean and polished shoes, and clean and businessappropriate general appearance).
  • The ambient noise level is usually quiet, consisting of normal conversations, business machines (copiers, printers, etc.) and telephones, but occasionally may be above normal for portions of the shift. Employee must be able to hear clearly, with or without reasonable assistance. Must be able to see with reasonable assistance (glasses/contacts/correctable vision acceptable) and be able to distinguish colors.
  • Employee must be customerservice focused, able to take direction from supervisors, and maintain good order and discipline through the chain of command as appropriate.
  • Must be able to focus and multitask in a busy environment, with the ability to successfully handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner (using appropriate language, volume and tone of voice).
  • Must be able to clearly speak, read, and write English, and to give clear, loud, and authoritative instructions or directions to others in a security or emergency situation.
  • Due to the nature of the work at some post locations, Security Officers assigned to such sites may be required to take an onduty meal period and will not be relieved from all duties or permitted to leave the premises for meal periods. However, in such locations, employees are authorized to eat during their shift, and to take required rest breaks. Specific procedures for assigned locations will be reviewed during training at such locations. Employees assigned to such locations agree to the onduty meal period via a signed Agreement; any employee not wishing to be assigned to such a location may revoke the meal period agreement at any time and request reassignment to a different work location.

Required Certifications / Licenses

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Current or capable of acquiring applicable automobile insurance.
  • Current or capable of acquiring a Guard Card/Certification/License/Permit as may be required by jurisdictional law.
  • Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle background check if in a driving position.
  • Successful completion of other applicable C
