    Job Description Title: Expanded Duties Dental Assistant / Front Desk

    Reports to: Dental Services Managers, Lead Assistant

    Position Summary: The Dental Assistant will assist in all aspects of dental clinic operations to assure that quality dental care is provided to our patients.

    Responsibilities:

    A. Patient Care

    1. Effectively assists in all areas of the clinic.

    2. Demonstrates proficiency in providing care to clinic patients.

    3. Takes diagnostic intra oral and pantographic radiographs.

    4. Effectively interviews patient, evaluates medical history and concerns of the patient.

    5. Explains procedures and reviews treatment plan with the patient.

    6. Effectively teaches each patient about their Oral Health.

    7. Effectively reports information to the dentist (i.e. blood pressure, medical alerts).

    8. Effectively communicates with patient.

    B. Support For Dental Services

    1. Works to guarantee a smooth flowing, efficient Clinic.

    2. Completes documentation appropriately and in accordance with Clinic standards.

    3. Assures that the Clinic is clean and free of hazards at all times.

    4. Effectively answer phone, greet clinic patients, answer patient questions; assist in filling out clinic forms, explain clinic policies/ procedures.

    5. Assures that work areas are cleaned and organized.

    6. Answer phones with a positive, friendly attitude. Appropriately take, record messages, forward calls.

    7. Efficient, accurate scheduling of appointments.

    8. Accurately bill and post payments, take payments and give correct change.

    9. Prepare accurate, timely invoices.

    10. Accurately and in a timely manner scan documents into patient records.

    11. Make correct and timely entries into Intergy system.

    12. Adheres to appropriate infection control protocols and procedures.

    13. Uses and maintains dental equipment in appropriate manner.

    14. Follows directions and completes assignments given by Managers.

    C. Professional Accountability

    1. Committed to providing outstanding quality of care to our Patients.

    2. Demonstrates clear and effective oral and written communication to patients and staff.

    3. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

    4. Works positively, cooperatively with others to accomplish our goal in a professional manner.

    5. Demonstrates a constructive attitude toward resolving problems and improving quality of care.

    6. Shows commitment to learning new knowledge and skills to enhance service to patients.

    7. Stays current and compliant with HCCH and departmental policies, procedures and standards of care.

    8. Demonstrates fiscal accountability by working to eliminate waste and destruction of property.

    9. Demonstrates commitment to the mission of HCCH to provide quality health care services that improve the lives of the homeless and medically indigent people in our community

    D. Safety

    1. Provides a safe environment for the patient and staff.

    2. Demonstrates understanding of safety procedures.

    3. Identifies environmental hazards and unsafe conditions and immediately reports them to Manager.

    Requirements:

    · Radiology Licensure –Florida.

    · Expanded Functions Certification- Florida.

    · Current CPR for Professionals

    · One year assisting or graduation form Accredited program.

    · Ability to effectively use computers for paperless dental records.

    · Compassionate, able to work with compromised populations.

    · Motivated & able to work independently with a positive outlook.

    · Flexible and open to learning new skills.

    · Excellent written and verbal skills.

    · Motivated to work hard, to learn and to progress in skills.
