Main Purpose of the Role:
The Middle School Math Teacher is responsible for planning instructional lessons and curriculum, as well as teaching and assessing students in math at the middle school level (grades 5-8).
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, teach, and evaluate students in daily math classes (the anticipated teaching assignment will be 3 sections and 3 preps, that is, one section each at three different grade levels).
- Facilitate math team meetings with a focus on improving instructional practices.
- Collaborate with members of the math team to refine the curriculum, evaluate students, monitor the efficacy of the program, and make placement decisions for leveled classes.
- Serve as an advisor to 1213 students, a role that includes partnering with other advisors to design and deliver advisory content in the domains of academic skills, socialemotional learning, and cultural humility.
- Serve as a supervisor for a range of student activities and events such as outdoor education trips, chapel service and assemblies, field trips, recess, and lunch.
- Lead an advisory group and participate in related gradelevel activities, including outdoor education and or servicelearning experiences
- Overtly support and act in accordance with the School's mission and values
- Attend and positively participate in all faculty meetings and professional training
- Work collaboratively with all faculty, staff, families, and school partners
- Uphold professional standards of personal presentation, punctuality, professional courtesy, and discretion
- Appropriately carry out specific responsibilities as designated by the division (e.g., duties)
- Honor the confidentiality of school and student information
- Engage in selfreflection and professional development and goalsetting
