    About the Office of Sponsored Programs at the Georgia Institute of Technology


    The Office of Sponsored Programs provides progressive and responsive assistance in several areas of research administration, including specialized educational, informational, and technological support to research administrators and faculty.

    OSP provides research faculty with full-service - cradle to grave - support and administration for research contracts and grants at Georgia Tech including the following sponsors:


    • All Federal Agencies
    • State and Local Governments
    • Universities
    • Federal Agency Pass-Through (regardless of type of pass-through entity)
    • Non-Profits (excluding private foundations)


    Services include review and interpretation of contract and grant requirements, determination of appropriate terms and conditions, and establishment of pre-contract agreements as well as the monitoring all active contracts and grants, including modification of existing agreements.

    Job Summary


    Manage an assigned area of sponsored programs specializing in issuance of sub-awards under all Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) sponsored programs including those issued through Georgia Tech Research Corporation and Georgia Tech Applied Research Corporation.

    The Subaward Team has responsibility through the entire life-cycle of subawards including pre-award activities, negotiations, post-award activities and financial closeout.

    Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. Assist with developing Georgia Tech Subaward management policies and procedures.


    • This position may require security clearance.
    • This position is hybrid eligible.
    Responsibilities

    Duties may include but are not limited to:

    • Provide advice on and participate in the issuance and negotiation of various types of subawards.
    • Oversee the initiation of resulting contracts/modifications in appropriate systems/database.
    • Manage subrecipient monitoring activities.
    • Plan, organize and supervise the activities of assigned contracting staff.
    • Participate in audits such as the Contractor Purchasing Review System; federal Single; state of Georgia; Defense Contract Audit Agency; and project specific.
    • Facilitate relationships between subrecipient representatives and appropriate Institute offices.
    • Respond to inquiries regarding contracting issues within assigned specialty area.
    • May serve on national and state organizations related to sponsored projects.
    • Meet critical deadlines.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.
    Required Qualifications


    • A Master's degree and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
    • A Master's degree and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
    • A Doctoral degree.

    • Ability to manage multiple projects.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
    • Logical thinker, good analytical skills.
    • Ability to think strategically and creatively.
    • Good overall business knowledge with ability to create and implement efficient business processes.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Experience in driving cross-functional initiatives.
    • May require obtaining national security clearance.
    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


    This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Institute senior administration; faculty, staff, research administrators; subrecipients and subcontractors, sponsoring federal and state agencies and industry/companies.


    This position typically will advise and counsel:
    Institute senior administration; faculty, staff, and research administrators. This position will supervise assigned contracting and finance personnel.


    This job requires a working knowledge of grants and contracts administration regulations and practices including those specific to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and 2 CFR 200.

    Negotiation and excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, are required including the ability to communicate effectively with Institute and sponsor employees at all levels.

    Skills related to the use of office equipment and specialized computer applications and systems are also required.
