- Bachelor's degree in communication disorders/speech pathology from an accredited university
- Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathology assistant granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) required
- Knowledge of therapy strategies to address a variety of communication disorders
- Ability to implement strategies for addressing student behavior
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, along with strong organizational abilities
- Preference for experience in public schools
- Plan and implement Individual Education Plans for students as determined by the ARD/IEP Committee
- Take data on IEP goals during therapy sessions, report to the SLP for progress reports, and assist with progress reports
- Develop clinical management strategies and diagnostic procedures
- Consult with colleagues, students, and parents regarding therapy goals and student needs
- Collaborate with teachers to plan activities improving student communication skills
- Offer professional development to school personnel and support parents when necessary
- Interact with external agencies as required
- Act as a resource in speech and language for campus staff
- Create a conducive learning environment tailored to student maturity and interests
- Administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct
- Coordinate evaluation of speech-language pathology services and suggest changes
- Participate in selecting equipment and materials
- Maintain required reports and comply with laws and policies
- Follow safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Maintain technology competence
- Implement alternative instruction methods as needed
- Perform assigned duties from the supervising SLP and speech coordinator

Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant @ Special Education Department
Primary Purpose:
As a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant, your main goal is to plan and provide speech therapy for students facing various communication disorders such as fluency, articulation, voice, pragmatics, and language. Your responsibilities include collecting data on all goals, assisting in goal writing, and preparing progress reports.
