Shreveport is situated on the Red River in northwest Louisiana. Commonly known as the 'Ark-La-Tex', the point where Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas meet. The Overton Brooks VA Medical Center is fully dedicated to providing top-quality medical care by serving and honoring America s Veterans. Highlights of this position include:Competitive Starting Salary $300,000 - $400,000Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm. Provides quality patient care to both inpatients and outpatients in accordance with approved clinical privileges.Participates in multidisciplinary activities involving the treatment plan and discharge plan of patients.Successfully integrates patient care activities on the Surgical Services with other patient care programs at the Medical Center.Serves as staff attending for patients on the Surgical Service, who are either outpatient or inpatients, or see in consultation.Provides guidance and clinical supervision for the nurse practitioners, physician assistants and health technicians assigned to the Surgical Service when appropriate.Provides guidance and supervision for the medical students and residents assigned to the Surgical Service in accordance to the Medical Center policy.Participates and attends Medical Center committee meetings as assigned by the Chief, Surgical Service.Exhibits leadership in initiating change in patient care programs based on current concepts and findings from evidence-based research and studies.Assists in the development , implementation and provides input on staff assigned in their area.Must have full and unrestricted license from any U.S. StateDegree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. Preferred Qualifications:Board certified or board eligible.
