Create memorable experiences for visitors and locals through rentals and events. Manage the Historic Alexandria rental program and support various departmental events. Coordinate site rentals for weddings, meetings, corporate events, concerts, recitals, and private parties. Ensure each event's details are well-organized and implemented as per the contract while preserving the historical significance of each site. Actively promote the department's sites at community functions, wedding showcases, and sales events. Collaborate closely with the Assistant Director to manage space and staff availability, which is crucial for meeting financial targets.

  • Embrace diversity, accessibility, inclusion, and public service in this role within the Education & Operations division. Report to the Director of Education and Museum Operations. Manage volunteers and part-time staff for rental and event support. Availability required on weekends and evenings.

The Role

  • Oversee the rental program lifecycle from inquiries to wrap-up. Coordinate with part-time staff to provide rental information. Build relationships with existing and potential clients. Support departmental events and achieve rental revenue targets. Provide quarterly performance calendar information for distribution. Fulfill additional duties as needed.

About the Department

The Office of Historic Alexandria (OHA) preserves and interprets Alexandria's historic properties, archaeological sites, and cultural resources. Encourage audiences to appreciate Alexandria's diverse historic heritage and its significance in American history.

Desired Qualifications

Minimum of one year of event management experience and one year in a sales or retail setting.

Basic & Extra Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED; at least two years of clerical experience, including office management tasks like typing, filing, and reception. Completion of high school-level courses in general studies, including English; or equivalent experience and training.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Two-Year College Degree; four years of office management experience, proficient in word processing, and excellent communication skills. Ability to make decisions, plan projects, and coordinate work effectively.

Additional Information:

This position is part-time (30 hours per week)
