    Description


    The VNA is opening a brand new position for a dependable part time Physical Therapy Assistant who is passionate about helping clients live independently at home.

    As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients recover from injuries and illnesses.

    You will be responsible for assisting with exercises, massages, and other therapeutic techniques to help patients regain their strength and mobility.

    Successful people in this role will manage several appointed client care plans and the necessary follow ups each day for clients with a wide range of acute and/or chronic illnesses.

    This position does require driving from location to location within Johnson County.

    The schedule is Monday through Friday, between 8am - 5pm; we can talk about additional flexible schedules based on business needs.

    This position does require a minimum of an Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assistance or related field with an Iowa State licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant with physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients with mobility and exercisesand knowledge of therapeutic techniques and exercisesResponsibilities:

    • Assist the Physical Therapist in developing and implementing treatment plans for patients
    • Help patients perform exercises and stretches to improve their strength and flexibility
    • Administer massages and other therapeutic techniques to help patients manage pain and improve circulation
    • Monitor patients' progress and report any changes to the Physical Therapist
    • Educate patients and their families on exercises and techniques they can perform at home to aid in their recovery

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
    To be performed satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation. The following duties are normal for this position.

    Provides therapy services and treatments to patients according to the patient's plan of care.
    Prepares clinical and progress notes.
    Provides education to patients and family regarding a home exercise program.

    Observes, records, and reports the patient's response to treatment, and reports any changes in the patient's condition to the PT.Provides care/services to patients to relieve pain, develop and restore function, and maintain maximum performance by using appropriate treatments, procedures, and modalities according to the plan of care.


    Physical therapy services may include:
    Therapeutic exercises and muscle strengthening.
    Gait training including patient instruction on use of assistive devices.
    Range of motion.
    Transfer training using appropriate equipment and body mechanics.
    Muscle re-education.
    Prosthetic training and stump conditioning.
    Demonstrates competency in providing care/services and provides care/services in accordance with the plan of care.
    Maintains accurate and timely documentation of care/services provided.

    Reports any changes in the patient's condition or plan of care to the PT.Communicates with other team members, as appropriate, regarding the patient's plan of care, and updates team members when there are changes.

    Attends and participates in staff meetings, case conferences, educational in-services, and committee meetings, as appropriate.
    Reports incidents and grievances/complaints (patients and/or personnel) to the Clinical Manager.
    Provides education and information to the patient and/or family members as appropriate to their plan of care.
    Reports the patient's progress and effectiveness in meeting goals to the PT.Participates in the patient's discharge planning.
    Participates in the agency's Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program, as appropriate.
    Adheres to the agency's policies and procedures.
    Maintains confidentiality of all aspects of job performance.
    Practices proper infection control and utilizes PPE as indicated.

    Only performs treatments or special procedures as authorized by the agency and deemed competent to perform by the PT.Complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations in performance of job functions.

    Performs other related functions as directed.

    Requirements Previous experience preferred.


    License:
    Physical Therapy Assistant, licensed to practice in the State of Iowa.

    Graduate from a physical therapist assistance curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association, licensed to practice in the State of IowaAbility to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writingUS work authorization (Required)Passionate about home care with a genuine desire to help othersAll offers of employment are conditioned upon the result of a criminal background check conducted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, as required by law and a negative finding on the Office of Inspector General's Excluded Provider List.

    Reliable, professional and able to start soon after required background checks are completed2 step TB testing is required.
