9:00 A.M - 5:00 P.M
PURPOSE OF DESCRIPTION

To guide patients through health insurance enrollment, charity care program enrollments, PCP selections, MyChart enrollment, Copay and Deductible collections at the point of service.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
OP clinics and Managed Care Office

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Completes notification, verification, and authorization for scheduled and nonscheduled visits as per assignment
  • Contacts insurance payers for service authorizations, coverage verification, and benefits
  • Collaborates with Case Management to secure extended authorizations
  • Communicates with physician offices on precertification requirements
  • Obtains updated insurance information from patients as necessary
  • Uses insurance websites/portals for coverage verification and authorizations
  • Records patient information clearly in the Health Information System
  • Scans patient ID, insurance cards, referral forms, and consent forms into the document imaging system
  • Discusses Patient Copays, deductibles, and processes payments by credit/debit card or cash
  • Supports patients with MyChart enrollments as required
  • Collaborates with other departments to secure accounts financially
  • Refers escalated accounts to Supervisor promptly
  • Attends training sessions for effective job performance
  • Carries out other assigned duties by the Patient Access Manager or Supervisors
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university; or
  • An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university; and completion of a medical billing certificate program; or
  • A high school diploma or equivalent; and completion of a medical billing certificate program; and two years of experience in interviewing, investigation, or related fields like credit collection or customer service
  • A high school diploma or equivalent; and four years of relevant full-time experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience. Thirty semester credits can substitute one year of experience
