Calling all animal lovers The STAR Eco Station is looking for passionate, dedicated and fun scientists, biologists, naturalists, teachers and staff that have experience working with children. We are an exotic wildlife rescue and environmental science museum that is now hiring husbandry and outreach staff to take care of our animals and teach after-school curriculums, in-person field trips, assemblies, school workshops, weekend tours and special events. Role Description


The Exotic Wildlife Husbandry Technician & Teacher will be responsible for the day-to-day care of diverse exotic animal species, which includes but is not limited to feeding, water replenishment, cleaning of habitats, behavioral monitoring, and enrichment activities.

The Technician & Teacher will also be responsible for transporting animals to and from school sites to present educational programs to the public and schools, in order to promote awareness and understanding of the animals, their habitat, and the illegal animal trade.

This is a full-time on-site role located in Culver City, CA.


Qualifications

  • Knowledge in how to care for and manage Reptiles, Aquatics, Avians, Mammals, and Inverts.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively teach and present to large public and school groups.
  • Passion for and appreciation of exotic wildlife species and their habitats.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays as needed.
  • Experience in restraining and handling diverse exotic animal species is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Biology/Zoology or related field is a plus.
  • Certifications in exotic animal handling and husbandry is a plus.

Job Type:


  • Parttime or Full-Time
  • Pay:
$18.00/hour for On-site Husbandry Duties & up to $35.00/hour for Off-Site Educational Outreach Assignments
