Position Overview:

The SEED Public Charter School of Washington D.C.

(SEED DC) is looking for a Data Compliance Manager to be the point of contact to support and monitor the preparation of data submission, statistical reports on educational activities for government and educational agencies (OSSE & DCPCSB) through different information systems (Powerschool, Quickbase, Qlik Sense, SunGuard K-12, Socrata).

To implement data driven practices, the Data Compliance Manager will develop standard templates for reporting and analysis.

The Data Compliance Manager will attend executive meetings to offer suggestions on improving data collection, deep diving student achievement, and modifying the data dashboard as needed.

The Data Compliance Manager will collaborate with various departments to develop and implement data protection strategies and policies.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Primary administrator of student information system (SIS) PowerSchool; facilitate and manage data collections and certifications required for Office of State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) and DC Public Charter School Board (PCSB); responsible for management of student data.
  • Ensure SIS data is accurate and up to date; perform frequent data checks and identify data errors; correct data errors or manage a process for data corrections in a timely manner.
  • Provide ongoing data analysis for the instructional team in a timely fashion to support instructional resource allocation.
  • Maintain and manage student, teacher, and organizational data for departments as well as individuals as
  • Aggregate and organize Business Intelligence visualized data for Head of School, senior leadership, teachers, and students as per "Data System Plan."
  • Identify and source educational technology, implement, establish /track metrics and train staff on correct usage

Data systems and technology project management:

  • Work with appropriate stakeholders to create system-wide protocols for the collection, storage, management, reporting and quality control of organizational data,
  • Roll out a new data dashboard by collecting data from various departments, input data on a common spreadsheet (Excel) as well as Qlik Sense,
  • Perform analysis on complex data sets to provide meaningful information, evaluate data for structural integrity and consistency, understands data and extract information to meet business requirements, as well as identify trends/anomalies in the data collected to understand the source of data inaccuracies,
  • Collaborate with staff on interpreting data and using it to improve student achievement,
  • Support the development of key data management and analysis initiatives across the organization and the technology needed to support these initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Law, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of the 912 education field, including familiarity with current student assessment and accountability practice.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or significant experience in a project based, consulting environment is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in data compliance, privacy, or information security roles, with knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g., FERPA, GDPR, CCPA).
  • Familiarity with PowerSchool, Qlik Sense, eSchoolPlus, QuickBase, ADT mapping, OCDB or other information systems and data visualization tool a plus.
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources.
  • Ability to understand the strengths, weaknesses, and limitations of given datasets or metrics.
  • Experience supporting projectors: configuration, setup, maintenance, troubleshooting. Strong ability/understanding of MYSQL/Oracle SQL Developer
