Qualifications and Detail about the Position

Summary:

Responsibilities:


  • Promote, demonstrate and instill Brock's B_safe _and B_best _culture in all aspects of the business
  • Oversee and direct activities of direct reports
  • Identify, document and recommend resolution of hazardous conditions; follow through to insure corrections have been made, issue verbal and written warnings and implement other corrective actions as required.
  • Conduct weekly and quarterly HSE audits of work locations (inspections with insurance representatives and clients, state, and federal safety inspectors)
  • Investigate injury and property damage incidents, includes taking statements of witnesses, injured employees, and preparing followup documentation.
  • Manage, verify and submit all documentation related to accidents / injuries, including supporting materials such as data, photographs, drawings, etc.
  • Assist in the supervision of medical care and rescue activities
  • Evaluate safety programs and the effectiveness of site HSE personnel efforts and the safety efforts of other field personnel
  • Responsible for HSE compliance training at all regional locations
  • Participate in all project start up meetings, and Owner/Prime Contractor directed safety meetings, to ensure adherence to all safe and healthful work practices
  • Partner with Owner/Prime Contractor Supervisory and Safety personnel to control and alleviate hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities
Assist in arranging local medical care at out-of-town project sites. To accomplish this you must know our policies and procedures in handling drug testing, pre-employment physicals and industrial injuries

  • Conduct inventory on project sites when a property loss is suspected. Inspect equipment and coordinate efforts to assure defective equipment is repaired or discarded.
  • Investigate losses of equipment or assets
  • Partner with other Safety and Security personnel to include law enforcement personnel as necessary to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Assess, coach, develop, and mentor personnel

Other information:
**Working Conditions: - Working conditions include outdoor and indoor field, yard and shop locations.

  • Working indoors in an office environment
  • Utilization of Personal Protective Equipment is necessary.
Frequent travel as required

**Skills & Abilities: - Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate to all levels

  • Strong presentation skills; comfortable speaking in front of groups
  • Excellent planning, organizing and project management skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels of management across the organization
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint

**Education & Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Health & Safety or related field preferred

  • 5+ years related HSE experience
  • Direct experience in field industry required
  • Certification preferred (CSP, CIH, CHMM, OHST, etc.)
  • Thorough working knowledge of federal, state and local health, safety and environmental regulations is essential

Working Conditions:

ORIENTATION - Must be able to successfully pass Brock and/or Safety Council Site Specific Orientation requirements.


HEAVY WORK - Lifting up to 50 pounds of force from the floor to the waist and 35 pounds of force from the waist to above shoulder.


CLIMBING - Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and the like, to elevations in excess of 100 feet, to maintain three-point contact at all times.


LADDERS - Using vertical ladders Frequently up to 100 feet - Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.


STAIRS & RAMPS - Using stairs or ramps: Occasionally up to 100 feet - Activity exists up to 40% of the work shift.


BALANCING - Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, on unprotected elevated surfaces using fall protection equipment; or maintaining body equilibrium when performing scaffold construction at elevations using fall protection equipment.

Frequently - Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.


STOOPING - Bending body downward and forward by bending at the waist, requiring full use of the leg and back muscles on a repetitive basis.
