- Assist with departmental efforts to cultivate inclusive campus environment through creative, implementing, and assessing programming designed to promote an appreciation of the many dimensions of diversity
- Assist with the planning and implementation of the DEI Strategic Plan and contribute to the advancement of the DEI Strategic Plan goals and objectives
- Regularly interface with underrepresented minority students, monitoring their academic and non-academic campus experience and provide resources and support services
- Provide personal and professional guidance to students on an individual and group basis.
- Assist in the development of DEI training curriculum that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion; facilitate various training and dialogues that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion; provide professional development related to diversity, inclusion, and equity for students, staff, and faculty
- Research and implement best practices related to diversity & inclusion, engagement, assessment, and supervision; collaborates with Interim CDIO and AVP of DEI Student Support to ensure office is implementing best practices
- Work collectively with colleagues and students to develop and implement programs recognizing annual cultural and cause recognitions (MLK Jr. Day, Black History, Women's History, Asian American & Pacific Heritage months, Juneteenth, Pride month, etc.)
- Assist the Interim CDIO and AVP of DEI Student Support in creating, administering, and analyzing quantitative, qualitative and statistical data, and other assessments in order to track and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of DEI efforts, programs, training, initiatives
- Represent and coordinate ODEI tabling at university-wide activities & events (Open Houses, Welcome Weekends, campus festivals, etc.)
- Assist in the developing reports, presentations, promotional materials, newsletters, direct oversight of the center social media accounts, and other communications
- Collaborate and coordinate with Interim CDIO and AVP of DEI Student Support to engage with and support cultural student organizations
- Serve as the advisor to the identified cultural-related recognized student organizations
- Regularly meet and consult with club officers
- Review and endorse club-relate documents (membership forms, budgetary information, etc.) as warranted
- Provide resources and knowledge, including interpreting university and student organization-related policies and procedures
- Attend/chaperone organization functions, as warranted
- Developer and administrator of the DEI Center
- Monitoring student organization and campus department usage
- Scheduling meeting rooms and education space, coordinating the area's activity calendar
- Managing physical plant requests
- Management of Building Bridges dialogue program
- Conduct recruitment, training, and evaluation of facilitators
- Initiate and engineer, and continually update the various activities and exercises associated with the overall development of the program
- Coordinate session schedules through direct contact with faculty, staff, and student groups
- Attend class sessions to oversee and participate in the facilitation of the dialogue
- Produce reports to ascertain the overall effectiveness in achieving the program goals
- Assist with the management and continual development of the Inclusive Community Assessment Team (
ICAT) - Assist with ensuring the university meets its responsibilities in identifying problem areas and systemic concerns while reporting complaints alleging discrimination
- Assist with developing, implementing, and evaluating
ICAT training sessions - Serve as campus NCAA DEI Delegate
- Collaborate and coordinate with Interim CDIO and AVP of Student Support Services to actively engage with the athletic director, coaches, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and student athletes
- Develop and maintain a student athlete diversity council, including convening monthly meetings
- Develop and coordinate ongoing diversity programs and workshops for student athletes and staff
- Foster collaboration between the ODEI and Athletics on programming, education, and events
- Bachelor's degree.
- Two years minimum of experience in diversity-related programming OR equivalent education/experience.
- Experience in researching, developing, and implementing DEI-related workshops/trainings.
- Experience in advising students and/or groups or serving successfully in high-level collegiate student leadership role.
- Proficient with general Microsoft applications (Word, Excel).
- Proficient in using current social media sites.

Job Summary / Basic Function
The Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives works closely with the Interim Chief Diversity and Inclusion Office and Assistant Vice President for DEI Student Support to cultivate an inclusive campus experience that facilitates student engagement, intellectual curiosity, personal exploration, and social inclusion.
The assistant director also has developmental and operational oversight of the activities of the DEI Center, including monitoring usage and activities of the common areas and cultural-related student group offices and coordinating the hiring, supervision, and training of the DEI Student Ambassadors.
In addition, the assistant director coordinates underrepresented minority retention efforts, and serves as mentor, role model and resource person for students in their diversity education, leadership skills, and a sense of belonging in the University community.
