    The State Labor Commissioner's Office of the Bureau of Field Enforcement (BOFE) program is seeking dynamic individuals to work as Deputy Labor Commissioner I (DLCI) willing to perform public service through communication, education, investigation and enforcement under the guidance of a Deputy Labor Commissioner Ill (DLCIII).

    The mission of the California Labor Commissioner's Office is to ensure a just day's pay in every workplace in the State and to promote economic justice through robust enforcement of labor laws.

    Working Conditions

    This position is located in Sacramento, California. The duties of this position are conducted both in an office and in a field setting. The incumbent is required to travel for field operations and training. The incumbent will have access to a state vehicle, laptop computer, printer, cellular phone, and other equipment.

    While in the field, the incumbent may be exposed to dirt, odors, noise, fumes, uneven surfaces, stairs, high-rise buildings, extreme weather conditions, and fast-moving equipment.

    Department Information

    The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927.

    Its mission is to improve working conditions for California's wage earners and to advance opportunities for profitable employment in California.

    DIR administers and enforces laws governing wages, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, and medical care and other benefits for injured workers.

    • The position(s) require(s) fluency in the Spanish language. If the State of California does not have a current record documenting your fluency in this language, you will be required to successfully pass an approved language fluency test prior to being hired.
    Utilize Spanish language proficiencies to communicate with monolingual parties, witnesses, stakeholders when Spanish is the primary language. Willingness to travel and be able to work irregular hours.
