    This position is a hybrid role (3x per week onsite) that will be based at our headquarters in Fremont, California.

    Director, Embedded Software Engineering

    The Director of Embedded Software Engineering will be based in Fremont CA. In this position, you will report to the VP, Engineering.

    Here is a glimpse of what you'll do...
    • Lead the Embedded Software Development Group to help define the roadmap and lead the execution of new software developments and maintain the existing products alongside product management
    • Build out the Embedded Software group to be able to execute on the strategic vision of the company for improved products
    • Work with the DevOps, QA and Security teams to structure a scalable deployment process
    • Mentoring of less experienced engineers and developing personal growth plans for the team
    • Define the internal secured development process for all embedded software products
    • Architect and design software systems including large IoT applications and that connect to databases on Azure platform in a secure fashion
    • Participate in design reviews and make design decisions
    • Develop high reliability, high performance and robust software systems for the tracker control level and power plant level
    • Work with embedded software developers and consultants to develop project cost estimates and written bids for projects, including SOWs as needed
    • Create embedded software project plans, manage resources, and monitor timelines to ensure software deliverables meet project objectives alongside the PM
    • Design software and control architectures for new prototype products.
    Here is some of what you'll need (required)...
    • BA/BSc/MSc in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Electrical Engineering
    • 15+ years of hands-on Embedded Software design experience, real time, bare metals, embedded Linux
    • 5+ years of engineering management with proven track record and teams of at least 10 people.
    • 5+ years in managing and restructuring teams of at least 10 people.
    • Large scale product design experience and deployment experience
    • Provide strong technical leadership for the embedded software development team.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Understanding of source control and software release procedures.

    • Proven track record of managing multi-product engineering teams
    • Individual contributor capability for concept and architecture-level designs
    • Renewable energy field experience is preferable but not a must
