Description
The laboratory is in search of a driven individual to join our team in investigating disease mechanisms and crafting therapeutic approaches for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and dementia. Working under the guidance of the Principal Investigator and other team members, the successful candidate will play a vital role in various aspects of laboratory operations, such as ordering supplies, equipment maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and developing protocols. They will actively engage in the lab's research activities and are expected to contribute to scientific projects and lab meetings.
The responsibilities will involve conducting a range of laboratory experiments including DNA and RNA purification, quantitative PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blots, DNA cloning, immunostaining, and library preparation for high throughput sequencing. While experience in mouse handling and histology is preferred, it is not mandatory. Additionally, the individual will analyze results, contribute to manuscript preparation, and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Prepares basic solutions and performs assigned procedures (e.g., pipetting, cell and tissue culture, etc.)
- Maintains accurate laboratory records and organizes experimental data
- Applies scientific techniques in molecular and cellular biology
- Analyzes and interprets results using statistical methods
- Participates in designing studies
- Sets up experiments as instructed
- Prepares lab materials and equipment
- Conducts literature searches
- Aids in preparing materials for publication or presentation
- Manages supplies and contributes to lab organization
- Attends and engages in group meetings
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and other software. Knowledge of scientific tools such as Matlab, Python, R, and imaging software is advantageous
- Professionalism in handling sensitive information
- Strong multitasking abilities
- Understanding of molecular biology techniques
- Attention to detail
- Excellent time management
Bachelor's degree required.
New graduates with some lab exposure or individuals without prior research experience will be considered for the Research Technician I role.
