Duties:


  • Serves as a consultant on social and behavioral issues related to consumers and involves working with multidisciplinary scientists responsible for leading, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the programs and activities of the CSB.
  • Develops and maintains specifications, stakeholder analysis, risk registries, risk mitigation strategies, issue based agendas, and official records of meetings.
  • Assists Office Management in championing the program to Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition users and senior FDA management.
  • Uses quantitative and qualitative social and behavioral science techniques to analyze data that investigates comprehension, judgment, knowledge, and behavior related to FDA regulated products, as well as CFSAN communication and outreach activities.

Basic Requirements

Degree:
behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

  • OR

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. The specialized experience must demonstrate one year of fulltime work experience, or the equivalent if parttime (for example, an employee working 20 hours per week for a 12month period should be credited with 6 months of experience.) Experience may have been obtained in either the federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations.
  • GS13: You must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS12, in the Federal service, which includes: planning, designing, and completing research projects; participating in qualitative and quantitative data collections related to public health; analyzing data, and communicating key findings to internal and external customers.
