    Job Summary

Note: This is a 1 year contract.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and co-investigators, the Data Manager will provide data management and analytic expertise for a study to compare the effectiveness of two different models of enhanced prenatal care available to low-income (Medicaid-eligible) women in Fresno County: "Glow Group Prenatal Care and Support" (Glow/GC) and the California Department of Public Health's Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program with individual prenatal care (CPSP/IC). The study will be carried out in partnership between the California Preterm Birth Initiative at UCSF and the Central Valley Health Policy Institute at California
State University, Fresno. Specifically, we will compare preterm birth rates, changes in depressive and anxiety symptom severity, and perception of respectful care and satisfaction with prenatal care. Clinical practices primarily serving low-income, racially/ethnically diverse patients will be randomly assigned to one of two recruitment tracks which will alternate between recruitment for Glow/GC and recruitment for CPSP/IC. Led by Principal Investigator Miriam Kuppermann, this position is part of a multidisciplinary research team that oversees all data management and analyses. The California State University Fresno team will be responsible for patient
recruitment and data collection activities in Fresno.
This position requires an employee with excellent communication and organizational skills. Job responsibilities will include developing data collection instruments and protocols, designing and executing study databases, preparing datasets for specific analytic activities, training study personnel, managing data collection from collaborating sites, creating automated error checking systems and data reports for review by study personnel and investigators, and coordinating error resolution. The Data Manager will extract and clean datasets; plan and execute statistical analysis using their own judgment and experience with guidance from the study statistician; prepare data for presentation; prepare summary reports, charts, tables, and figures; and contribute to publications and presentations. They may also assist with statistical analysis for other research studies led by the Principal Investigator.
