Description
Aspire is a growing nonprofit organization of the Massachusetts General Hospital.

We offer a variety of high-quality therapeutic programs and services that focus on helping teens with high cognitive autism spectrum disorders and related profiles develop increased self-awareness, social competency, and stress management skills.

The Transitions Specialist is a seasonal position working at Aspire's Transitions Summer Program.

The Transitions Specialist is responsible for supervising a group of 3 participants, aged 16-22, at a volunteer work site two days per week.

On other weekdays, other tasks of the role include:

co-facilitating program activities; implementing Aspire program curriculum; implementing interventions, supports, and strategies for program participants; leading mid-summer conferences and communicating with families; maintaining accurate timekeeping and record keeping; and complying with program policies and procedures.

Transitions Specialists will be supported by the Transitions Assistant Program Manager and Transitions Program Manager. The program is overseen by the Director of Teen and Adult Programs at Aspire.

Program activities include:

volunteer site work, job preparation, recreation and team building activities, social groups, mind/body groups, self-awareness groups, exercise, and lunch outings.

The Transitions Specialist will help support curriculum focused blocks (i.e., connections, self-awareness, mind/body and job prep groups) with opportunities to plan specific program activities.

This is a 40 hour per week paid position (located in Lexington and at an additional job-site) for 6 program weeks that includes 40 hours of mandatory and paid training prior to the start of the program, along with mid-summer parent conferences.
