- Originate and check complex structural engineering deliverables, such as steel calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
- Reviews and coordinates technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction.
- Prepare technical reports related to specific design issues.
- Manage specifically assigned project activities.
- Assist in constructability reviews.
- Support construction by dispositioning field change requests and nonconformance reports.
- Act as a mentor or coach for subordinate engineers and designers.
- Schedule and coordinate off-project review requirements for engineering deliverables.
- Lead and/or participate in technical discussions with client, suppliers, construction, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience working complex concrete and/or steel designs.
- Ability to independently execute the detailed design of complex steel and/or concrete structures.
- Thorough knowledge and application of the AISC Steel Construction Manual, and ASCE 7.
- Proficient in the use of structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL or STAAD.
- Experience with CAD applications, such as Revit or Tekla.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions and of construction methods for steel structures.
- Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects.
- Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.
- Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen, and background check.
- Professional Engineering License (PE).
- Proficient in the use of Mathcad or similar software.
- Experience in resolving field problems associated with proposed changes from Construction and working through Non-Conformances.

Job DescriptionJohnson Service Group (JSG) is recruiting for a, Senior Structural Engineer, for a 6-month contract assignment with Bechtel National supporting the Kennedy Space Center. This position offers a W2 hourly base rate with time and a half for overtime. Standard per diem is not offered but can be broken out of the base rate. Our client is targeting $85.00/hour for this role.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Project Overview:
Located at Kennedy Space Center, the Mobile Launcher 2 (ML2) Project is the design and construction of a launch platform for NASA to provide an advanced launch vehicle that will fill America's need for deep space missions. The ML-2 project works a 40-hour, 5 day/8 hour schedule. Start times are flexible but the standard work week is Monday – Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Overtime may be required as directed.
