$72,000 to $108,000


Reports To:
Supervisor of Facilities


Contract: 12 months, 2080 hours per year ( 7:00am-3:30am, Monday-Friday)

General Function:

Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Custodial and Maintenance staff to ensure that all buildings and grounds are effectively operational and safe during and after school hours.

Maintains communication and directives from the Supervisor of Facilities to all Custodial and Maintenance staff.

Position is deemed essential personnel.

Qualifications:


  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Specific trade school experience, combined with on the job training; or a combination of professional development and job experience.
  • Licensed in a trade or appropriate training or schooling of a tech school.
  • 5 years of Custodial or Maintenance supervision experience
  • Preferred experience in educational facilities
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Valid PA driver's license

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assignment of daily work schedule to the Maintenance and Custodial staff, including assigning and distributing of work orders in the District's Computerized Maintenance Management System. Ensures the Maintenance and Custodial staff has the appropriate training, supplies, tools and equipment to perform the daily work.
  • Assists the Supervisor of Facilities in developing and maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule for all building systems internally and externally. Perform building inspections.
  • Coordinates moving of furniture, equipment, and items for the district.
  • Completes followup inspections of various work orders and maintenance jobs, and submits any and all deficiencies to the Supervisor of Facilities.
  • Ability to communicate professionally in person and virtual, orally, and in writing.
  • Assists in overseeing the status of any projects as assigned by the Supervisor of Facilities. Coordinates the completion of these projects including managing the completion of the work by either internal staff or outside vendors.
  • Work with the Maintenance team and Head Custodians to coordinate any work that ensures the buildings day to day operation.
  • Coordinate all removal of snow and ice from all walkways, steps, and entrances. Report into work on inclement events at 4am to give Supervisor of Facilities a status update for school delays or closures. Work may require Overtime to complete.
  • Coordinate with Head Custodians for Summer cleaning and additional workforce.
  • Coordinates repairs of building system components including boilers, HVAC systems, door access control systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, sprinkler systems, security and fire alarm systems, elevators/lifts, keys and cores, badge swipes, roofing systems, and building envelope.
  • For custodial/maintenance personnel assigned to your supervision, assist in the responsibility for approving pay records, approval of leave absences, and scheduling of work.
  • Assist in supervision and evaluations for all department personnel.
  • Coordinate custodian coverage when call outs or vacations occur.
  • Effectively communicate directives from the Supervisor of Facilities to the Maintenance and Custodial staff.
  • Fill in for the Supervisor of Facilities in that person's absence, working closely with all of the facilities departments to ensure that the needs of the District are being met.
  • Assists in recruiting, hiring, and retention of GVSD staff.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Supervisor of Facilities.

ADA Specifications:
Must be able to communicate verbally. Work is performed primarily in an internal environment. Must be able to stand, crawl, crouch, and bend/twist from a stationary position for substantial periods of time. Able to walk sustained period of the workday throughout the school district.

Able to hear with 40 decibel loss maximum and see with near acuity of 20 inches or less with normal depth perception, color vision, field of vision, and accommodation.

Climb to height of 10 feet or more, balancing on ladder, scaffolding, and catwalks. Exposure to various physical hazards and atmospheric conditions that may effect respiratory system and/or skin. Able to stoop repetitively and twist the body from a stationary position and reach.

Able to push and pull objects weighting up to 50 pounds and use of fingers to pick, feel, reach, and grasp objects.

Lift up to 75 pounds with a height up to 30 inches on a repetitive basis. Dollies are available to assist with weights in excess of 75 pounds. May climb 12 feet stepladder occasionally to access high areas to clean, such as when washing windows. Requires use of both hands when operating scrubber/buffer machinery and when making repairs. May perform fine
