    Description

    Summary

    Technical Product Owner (TPO) is responsible for backlog refinement and management of all development requests received from the credit union's business units. This position understands and coordinates the initiative backlog for all releases for credit union's products and their dependencies on each other. The TPO works with the development team, business partners, and internal team members to ensure that business, quality, and functional goals are met with each release and solution delivery. The TPO is responsible for the refinement, design, usability, quality, and delivery of the solutions from the Scrum team. The TPO acts as a liaison between business stakeholders, such as management and end users, and the Scrum team to make decisions on priorities and design decisions. The TPO will ensure that all stakeholders are aligned at each stage of the development cycle. The TPO is ultimately responsible for representing the end user's needs, and serves as an advocate on behalf of the internal customers for the development team.

    Essential Functions

    • Provide backlog refinement and management, sprint planning, and elaboration of epics and user stories
    • Create and maintain a product backlog according to business value and ROI provided by business partners on proposed services/enhancements.
    • Work closely with our business partners to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value and ROI
    • Act as a focal point for internal customers to address new work as well as concerns about products or delivery
    • Closely and effectively communicate with the Scrum team and share feedback to ensure successful delivery
    • Provide guidance for the development team in a fluid environment in order to help them embrace changes in an agile environment
    • Participate in all Scrum ceremonies as needed to facilitate quality and speed of delivery
    • Assume the product owner role as defined in Scrum and make decisions on backlog acceptance
    • Possess a deep understanding of end-to-end customer experience, integrations, and dependencies
    • Assess value, develop use cases, and prioritize backlog items (user stories, epics), and initiatives to ensure that the Scrum team's work is focused on those backlog items that provide the highest value and are aligned with product strategy
    • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, and subject matter experts on the team to transition business requirements to technical requirements
    • Manage expectations with 3 rd -party vendors (business partners) as related to product backlog items
    • Facilitate and engage with users to analyze requirements, recommend solutions, manage implementation, and test new and existing application solutions
    • Organize requirements for modifications and communicate with team members and vendors
    • Assist in documenting departmental procedures and policy as applicable to product ownership
    • Participate in initiatives for continuous process improvements and follow best practices
    • Provide superior member service while managing relationships with end users, business area leaders, and vendors to ensure deliverables exceed expectations
    • Analyze and communicate stakeholder needs by translating business requirements in to software or technical requirements
    • Document and communicate the results of your efforts
    • Work in a team environment and continually seek to improve processes
    • Responsible for compliance with all Federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)

    Education

    • Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field)

    Experience and Other Requirements

    • One to three years of similar or related experience in a product owner or technical product owner role
    • Experience with core and digital product lines utilized within a credit union or another financial institution (e.g., Symitar, Synergy, online banking)
    • Extensive domain knowledge and subject matter expertise in a credit union or another financial institution and related products
    • Experience in or knowledge of agile development and the Scrum framework
    • Experience in business analysis and translating business requirements to technical specifications
    • Willingness to acquire additional system/technical product knowledge as needed
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication/influence skills required, including reports, presentations, and group facilitation skills
    • General knowledge of the software development and product release cycle
    • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority. The ability to influence and work collaboratively with development teams is especially important
    • Thorough familiarity with problem analysis and excellent level of problem solving capabilities to establish adequate solutions to operating problems
    • Experience in Jira, Sciforma, Trello, or similar project management tools
    • Experience with MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and ability to produce and present metrics related to product backlog
    • Must be highly organized and capable of handling multiple tasks concurrently. Must be able to redirect priorities based upon current workload (ability to react to current situations)
    • Demonstrate teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities
    • Ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other business and functional areas
    • Demonstrate conceptual thinking and analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
    • Must be able to perform all functions independently with minimal supervision in a reasonable amount of time
    • Stay current with emerging technology trends

Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
