Position Summary

The Production Operator is responsible for the set up and operation of equipment which blends/mixes/packages/transports liquid or dry chemicals that comprise our customer products.

Position ensures the highest quality product at the lowest possible costs while meeting customer specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with Avient policies and procedures.

Plastics manufacturing experience is preferred for this role.

Essential Functions

Obtains the correct documentation for the batch.
Monitors production and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Troubleshoots equipment and processing issues.
Examines materials visually or physically to ensure conformance with established standards.
May take samples of materials to lab for evaluation and instructions on any batch adjustments if needed.
Ensures the correct ingredients are delivered to the work area. May be required to obtain the correct ingredients for mixing and weigh out the ingredients to meet the recipe specifications.
Sets up and starts any weighup or packaging machinery, checking all controls for adherence to operating/safety procedures.

Education and Experience

High School diploma, GED equivalency or relevant experience
Two (2) or more years of manufacturing experience with experience in plastics industry preferred

Additional Qualifications

Previous Plastics manufacturing experience is preferred.
Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product recipes/materials.
Must effectively communicate in writing and verbally, in English.
Must have manual dexterity for hand tools of various types.
Must be able to drive a forklift.
Must have problem solving skills and some mechanical aptitude.
