SUMMARY:

The Laboratory Technician 1 is responsibility to perform accurate analysis of wine, juice and spirits in a timely manner, reporting all inconsistencies and irregular data to the Laboratory Supervisor or the Laboratory Shift Lead. They are also required to work safely following all chemical safety and company safety policies while at work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.

• Perform routine analysis on wine and juice

• Perform non-routine analysis such as: copper and sorbate

• Accurately record analysis and report any out-of-spec analysis to Laboratory Shift Lead and Laboratory Supervisor

• Ensure that analysis is accurate by re-running out-of-spec samples and checking that analysis matches the history or matches the new result

• Understands the hazards of chemicals used in Laboratory

• Calibrate and check lab equipment and notify Laboratory Supervisor and Laboratory Shift Lead if issues exist

• Keep Laboratory clean and presentable for potential clients

• Ability to adhere to companies' 4 core standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or one to two years related experience is desired

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm

• Ability to work as a team or individually, as the situation requires 1/2

• Ability to follow SOPs to complete an analysis or solution preparation, with minimal supervision

• Acute attention to detail

• Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines

• Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts

• Working knowledge of statistical analysis of data, laboratory instrumentation and troubleshooting, and wine laboratory analysis

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions

• Knowledge of wines and wine production desired

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• regularly required to talk or hear

• work in high altitudes

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:

Walk, kneel, bend, and stand

• Ability to work long hours during peak periods

• Ability to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds

• Ability to work multiple shifts

• Climb stairs

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Work is mainly performed both in a normal lab environment and in and outdoors

• Noise levels are usually moderate but may be moderate to high at times

• A percentage of work time may be spent in a wine warehouse and cellar where temperatures are cool and noise level is usually moderate

• Floors may be wet and slippery, proper footwear is required
