Mount Carmel Guild Behavioral Health System, a CARF accredited division of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark, is a leading provider of mental health and addiction services in Northern New Jersey.

We are currently seeking a per diem Residential Counselor to join our Adult Residential program located in Union City, NJ.

Our Adult Residential program serves individuals who are referred primarily from the State and County Hospitals and who are ready for discharge into the community.

MCG Adult Residential has had success in moving individuals along the continuum of care available, progressing from A+ group homes to less supervised levels.

The Residential Counselor Duties

• Responsible for the development and implementation of an individualized service plan for program residents, including direct counseling services.
• Supervises, organizes, and supports recreational and/or socialization activities.
• Provides crisis intervention, document observations, information and services provided to the consumer in progress notes.
• Transports residents to medical and service appointments as needed.
• Provides education, modeling, and monitoring to residents regarding medication compliance independent living skills and interpersonal skills.

Requirements:

Position requires a valid driver's license and one of the following:

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a mental health or social service field
  OR:
• A high school diploma or GED issued by a State DOE accredited testing site, plus 4 years related experience
