SUMMARY:

The overall responsibility of a Crew Leader is the operation of a Bruster's Real Ice Cream store in the absence of management staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

The Crew Leader has several functions, the most important of which is to oversee the "front of the store." A Crew Leader must also have an overall working knowledge of the whole Bruster's store operation.

A. Oversee Front of the Store

• Ensure Customer Satisfaction served in appropriate time using proper customer service skills
• Product Quality Checks check procedures/weights/sizes of products
• Provide customer service as needed

B. Staff Issues - ensuring proper dress code is followed and promote positive employee morale

C. Completing Paperwork - complete all paperwork as required by company and to ensure government compliance; complete banking procedures as necessary

D. Store Operation

• Perform register maintenance and upkeep
• Possess knowledge of building & equipment
• Possess cake & pie knowhow
• Ensure proper cleaning procedures are being followed

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee will provide leadership to staff on a frequent basis.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A food service background is helpful, but not required. Basic computer skills are necessary.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must possess verbal skills sufficient to communicate effectively with employees and customers.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Must possess math skills sufficient to complete paperwork and reports required to operate store effectively.


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
The position of Crew Leader requires dependability, honesty and responsibility. A Crew Leader must be able to assert authority with staff when necessary. A Crew Leader should possess a pleasant, friendly personality because of the large amount of customer/ employee contact.

Employee must possess or develop both the manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to scoop and portion all of our retail and wholesale products, most times without the aid of measuring devices, due to the volume of sales we may encounter.

Employee must be able to maneuver in a tight and sometimes congested working environment, both quickly and without creating a hazard.

Position requires lifting up to 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to chemicals used in cleaning. Employee is also exposed to extreme cold occasionally when entering the walk-in freezer.

The employee also frequently comes into contact with hot water while cleaning and sanitizing tools and containers, and the extreme heat of the waffle iron while baking waffle cones.

The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.


OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Employee will assist in maintaining an orderly, clean and safe work area; properly care for company property; and maintain proper conduct befitting a business environment.
