    Job Overview

    The

    Development Associate (DA)

    for Georgetown University College of Arts & Sciences (DA) plays a self-starter key role within College's Development team and at the Office of Advancement


    They work closely with frontline development officers through a partnership designed to grow talent and build a pipeline for future frontline development officers who are interested in making their careers at Georgetown.

    Through this partnership, the DA ensures the relevant frontline fundraisers get both the high-level administrative and strategic support they need to properly maintain an outward focus on building relationships and closing gifts.

    As well, they are responsible for portfolio review and maintenance; reporting and analysis; identifying and researching potential donors to the university, drafting correspondence and briefings, working with the Units team stewardship liaison on stewardship tasks, and providing full-spectrum support to CAS development officers.

    They also play a key role liaising with the Office of the Dean, College of Arts & Sciences.

    This position is designed to serve as a learning and training experience, structured to grow the talent of the Development Associate towards a career in the Office of Advancement.


    The DA is responsible for the day-to-day fulfillment of prospect research inquiries and requests in support of Georgetown University's fundraising initiatives.

    They provide accurate, timely, and comprehensive analysis and information about prospective donors to the College of Arts & Sciences.

    Additionally, engage in the identification and reporting of new prospective donors for placement in fundraiser portfolios, using weekly gift reports and other data pulled from Georgetown University's Donor Management platform called GU360 (Salesforce for Georgetown).


    Further, the DA provides general development support for a small number of major gift officers including assisting with budgets, travel, staff solicitation visits, weekly gift reports, and donor information; entering prospect strategies in donor profiles and tracking the College of Arts & Sciences' campaign pipeline; and administers the gift process by entering and tracking asks and proposals, facilitating Gift Agreements/Statements of Intent and gift transmittal forms.

    The Development Associate supports advancement events for the College of Arts and Sciences, in duties that


    include coordinating with internal colleagues, drafting and sending invitations, staffing events and managing RSVPs, and writing briefings and attendee follow up.

    Work Interactions

    Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Development, College of Arts & Sciences, the

    Development Associate


    works closely with the Dean's office for the College of Arts & Sciences and with other divisions of the Office of Advancement to ensure timely, open and accurate communications in order to facilitate the team's development activities.

    Through their contributions, the DA significantly impacts the success of the fundraising activities of the Office of Advancement.

    They interact with donors, prospective donors, and other alumni who are positively affected by interacting with a courteous and professional member of the Advancement team.

    As well, they interact with most of the rest of Advancement, including but not limited to Campaign Operations, Stewardship, Donor Relations, Marketing and Communications, Prospect Research, Alumni Relations, and Annual Fund.

    Requirements and Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree
    0-2 years of work experience -

    preferably

    in a development/fundraising environment.
    A desire to contribute to and participate in the mission of Georgetown University and the Office of Advancement.
    Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Suite and Google Suite
    Broad knowledge of and experience with the use of research materials, including the internet and online informational databases
    Ability to work efficiently and effectively, at times under tight deadlines
    Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative as appropriate
    Understanding and practice a high standard of confidentiality and ethical information collection
    Highly developed and effective interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills
    Strong collaborative and project management skills and the ability and flexibility to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines for a wide variety of assignments
    Ability to employ tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality in dealing with members of the University community and the University's donors
