    CAMBA's comprehensive Workforce Development and Refugee Services programs annually provide over 3,800 low income community members with employment, education, training, benefits access, and financial counseling services. CAMBA specializes in assisting those with special barriers to employment including low skilled workers, long-term unemployed, immigrants and refugees, highly skilled immigrant professionals, limited English speakers, formerly incarcerated, individuals in imminent danger of homelessness and trauma survivors. These programs are performance-based, and success is measured by meeting enrollment, employment placement, training, retention and case management goals

    Position: Adult Education Instructor

    Reports To: Program Manager

    Location: 2244 Church Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11226

    What The Adult Education Instructor Does:
    • Foster an understanding of the skills and competencies needed for career success in a global economy.
    • Develop customized trainings to meet specific employer hiring and advancement needs.
    • Liaise with employers to identify guest speakers, arrange site visits, and determine other opportunities to provide real-world experiences to clients.
    • Create and refine curriculum and lesson plans based on clients' needs.
    • Create and deliver workshops on topics such as tenant rights, public benefit navigation, financial stability, and health care access.
    • Research new materials and methods of instruction to keep curriculum current and relevant.
    • Ensure lesson plans to meet core program & course objectives.
    • Personally assess and test each client's level of ability to ensure appropriate placement.
    • Prepare and distribute instructional materials for classroom/homework use.
    • Provide classroom instruction on the subject of the course (i.e. Understanding the American Workplace or Vocational Skills etc.)
    • Manage the classroom effectively to maximize client learning.
    • Prepare, distribute, and grade periodic written assessments of clients' progress.
    • Document and track client progress in case file and/or database
    • Manage and maintain all program related data and records.
    • Communicate with CAMBA career advisors, case managers, counselors, etc. regarding apparent barriers to client success (e.g., child daycare needs, possible health/housing issues, etc.)
    • Assist clients to write and/or enhance their resume.
    • Refer clients to other CAMBA services to assist clients in eliminating barriers to success.
    • Maintain daily client attendance records and forward daily sign in sheet to appropriate staff members.
    • Midway through each course may conference clients' cases with appropriate Career Advisor and Job Developer to ensure job placement and retention.
    • Provide weekly reports regarding completion of trainings, tasks and outcomes.
    MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) and one year of applicable experience and/or equivalent experience
    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
    • Teaching style must be hands-on, interactive, and participatory (not lecture based).
    • Ability to multi-task and to work a flexible or alternative workweek schedule based upon program needs.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with immigrant, refugee and asylee populations.
    • Bilingual English/Ukrainian or Russian required.
    Compensation: $46,000-$55,000 annually
    When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

    Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
