- New Product Development
- Use considerable independence, judgement, and discretion to develop robust analytical reagents and assays for biomolecule characterization
- Provide scientific input on instrument and consumables development in collaboration with Engineering
- Solve technology and development challenges through innovative and meticulous characterization and troubleshooting
- Use data-driven decisions to advance projects and communicate status to cross-functional teams
- Lead transfer of products to manufacturing environment, and design and execute verification and validation studies
- Independently identify new areas of opportunity and technologies to drive new product development
- Expert in Analytical Science
- Good understanding of protein chemistry and bioanalytical techniques, including electrophoretic and chromatographic separations and immunoassay detection
- Good understanding of biophysical and chemical property measurements
- Collaboration and Technical Leadership
- Lead other lab members and cross-functional teams to guide and conduct development activities within defined timelines
- Act as a scientific expert within Product Development and more broadly within the science community
- Work closely with R&D Science, Engineering, Software, and Manufacturing teams to develop, validate, and release new products
- Hire, train and supervise junior scientists and/or research associates
- Ph.
- Or, M.S with 10+ years of experience is required, with 5+ years industry experience in new product development
- Candidates with experience in capillary electrophoresis or developing immunoassays and associated reagents are preferred
- Candidates with background in nucleic acid characterization (DNA/RNA) or NGS will be considered
- Experience in biotechnology new product development for research use only (RUO) or in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) is required
- Must have demonstrated ability to create new products, including reagent formulations, that require a high degree of complexity to design and create
- Strong track record of technical leadership of complex projects. Experience collaborating with Engineering and Software teams is desirable.
- Must have the ability to work on novel experimentation requiring a high degree of independence and judgement
- Demonstrated experience developing robust scalable products and transferring new products to manufacturing
- Strong background in laboratory instrumentation and automation
- Experience with immunoassays (e.g., ELISA, western blot, MSD) or other protein characterization and modification techniques is preferred
- Familiar with protein separation, protein purification, and protein detection methods e.g., HPLC, capillary electrophoresis (CZE, cIEF, CE-SDS), microfluidics is desirable
- Highly motivated and able to balance several projects concurrently
- Must demonstrate ability to work independently and determine priorities for self and others
- Outstanding documentation and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in research and manufacturing environments
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word). Experience with JMP or Python software is a plus.

Position Summary:
The Research and Development Science group (R&D Science) at ProteinSimple, a Bio-Techne brand, is seeking an innovative and accomplished Staff Scientist to join our growing team on our mission to develop game-changing analytical instrumentation and assays.
As a part of the Product Development Team, you will work among other innovative, supportive scientists and engineers that have a passion for product development and a knack for disrupting the way people characterize their samples.
Our team works on exciting technologies for analysis of biomolecules and cells, including capillary electrophoresis, automated immunoassays, microfluidics, and cell sorting.
In this role, you will exercise considerable independence and judgement in the product development lifecycle for Consumables, Reagents, and Instruments, from concepts to commercialization, to deliver cutting edge technologies to our global customer base.
