Our Workers Comp Claims team is currently seeking an Claims Representative to join our growing Level One team in our Worcester, MA office.

This is a full-time/non-exempt role.


POSITION OVERVIEW:


In this role you will be trained to handle lost time claims which lead to a strong and established career path in Workers Compensation.

Responsible for the investigation and resolution of complex medical only and lost time claims of low complexity in accordance with policy provisions, best practices and jurisdictional requirements.

Includes the input of claim data and guiding insured's and claimants through the claim process and options.


IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:


  • Must have or secure and maintain appropriate states adjuster license(s) and continuing education credits
  • Works within defined limits and authority on assignments of mínimal complexity
  • Uses discretion and independent judgment in claim handling
  • Possesses basic functional knowledge and skills reflective of study and/or on job development
  • Analyzes, evaluates and negotiates claims of mínimal complexity
  • Identifies possibly suspicious claims
  • Phone contact with customers is required to confirm cause, coverage, liability and damages
  • Settlement and reserve authority levels are appropriate based on experience and supervisory guidance
  • May be part of a formal training program
  • May take recorded statements
  • May work with the Special Investigations Unit to resolve and negotiate settlement
  • May be required to have and maintain sufficient homebased internet connection

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:


  • Associate's Degree; Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent
  • Typically has 1 to 3 years work experience in Claims with a focus on customer service or equivalent related industry experience
  • Technical knowledge in Auto and/or WC coverages
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Basic understanding and ability to read legal documents a plus; such as paralegal or general legal support experience
  • Has positive energy and enthusiasm

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:


  • Ability to use a personal computer and other standard office equipment
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods
  • Required to work onsite as needed
  • Ability to travel as necessary
  • Workload requirements may routinely call for work hours in excess of 40 hours per week
