Job Description:
This position provides a high level of administrative support for the Center for the Study of the Early Modern World (CSEMW), the Program in Medieval Studies (MS) and the Medieval and Early Modern History Seminar (MEMHS).
The Center Manager reports to the Manager of the Cogut Institute and works very closely with the Directors of CSEMW, MS and MEMHS.
The incumbent must work effectively with faculty, concentration advisors, and both graduate and undergraduate students in addition to having sufficient understanding of the Program, Center and Seminar and their related constituents to function independently, to provide general information about the programs and seminar, to refer students to appropriate faculty for further consultation, and to coordinate program, center and seminar events.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, logístical planning and communications required for the interdisciplinary courses, seminars, lectures, conferences and other events sponsored by the Center, Program and Seminar; managing and monitoring budgets; maintaining databases and websites; producing publicity and coordinating other functions routinely required by University policies.
Additional physical demands and working conditions:
- Center Manager is expected to attend evening and occasionally weekend events sponsored by the Programs.
- Is expected to attend the annual Commencement ceremony.
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience required, ideally in a university setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with budget management and financial record keeping is preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Initiative and selfmotivation for independent problem solving along with ability to serve as a strong team member.
- Good public relations and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills with a strong aptitude for learning new systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Suites or Google platform, and Zoom/other video conferencing.
- Must be able to interact with discretion and tact and maintain confidentiality.
- Possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community.
