Description
Works with end users to purchase materials, equipment, and services related to construction. Reviews and analyzes purchase requisitions, coordinates purchasing activities in accordance with priorities, time limitations, and published policies and processes. Assists Buyers in scheduling and posting formal solicitations. This position has a hybrid schedule, working in office three days a week.

Essential Duties

  • Provides customer service to departments through processing purchasing transactions according to state and federal statutes, policies established by the Arizona Board of Regents, and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Determines method for processing requisitions based on dollar amount, timeliness required, existing open contracts, and/or competitive bidding.
  • Helps customers by examining and analyzing purchase requisitions based on identified departmental needs, completeness, accuracy of information, and documentation required for compliance.
  • Creates and issues purchase orders to suppliers.
  • Schedules meetings and creates related agendas.
  • Resolves routine purchasing problems between department and vendor.
  • Maintains databases for construction projects.
  • On an as needed basis, may perform or support formal and informal competitive bidding pursuant to University needs and policies.
  • Verifies pricing against contractual agreements and initiates action to resolve discrepancies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in SCM, Business, or Accounting or other relevant field, OR four years of related experience OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Evidence of a bachelor's degree. If it is not in a related field then three (3) years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills and independent judgment.
  • Experience in working on multiple detailoriented tasks while meeting expected deadlines.
  • Experience using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Experience in leadership in communication, participation, and encouragement of support in the institution's sustainability programs.

  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change tasks and effectively prioritize workload.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
