Description:

Position Summary

This position is split between two projects: the Integrated Behavioral Health Care Training Program (IBHCTP) and the Illinois Behavioral Health Workforce Center (BHWC).

The primary role is as the field liaison for the IBHCTP and is responsible for assuring that Master of Social Work (MSW) students in the program are placed and supported in appropriate field sites.

This also involves partnering with Field Instructors to provide students opportunities to integrate coursework and their field work experience to learn and practice social work skills.

This position establishes and maintains relationships with partner organizations as both educational collaborators and potential employers.

The secondary duties include supporting the activities of the BHWC and its initiatives. This includes outreach to community agencies, presentations, data collection, report writing, and other research activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify practicum placements for students and facilitate the placement, establish and formalize agreements with partner organizations, and provide development and relationship building resources for the preceptor.
  • Advise and orient students in securing field placements with UIC contracted agencies that meet the requirements of the IBHCTP, including setting caseload expectations and problemsolving difficulties with obtaining or retaining appropriate clients.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and visit students and field instructors in placement sites.
  • Create and deliver materials on professional development, career preparation, and professional behavior in the workplace, to prepare students for their initial entry into the profession.
  • Review learning plans, field evaluations, and other field assignments to assess student field work performance.
  • Utilize the Sonia software platform to review assignments, track student field placements, and facilitate the field placement process.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director and Training Director to ensure students are implementing training program requirements in their field placements.
  • Disseminate information about the IBCHTP to College listserv, course instructors, and other members of the field team to recruit MSW students for the training program.
  • Perform outreach to agencies, government organizations, professional organizations, and other individuals and groups as needed to build relationships and gather information regarding mental health services and/or needs of the behavioral health workforce.
  • Coordinate workgroups and collect data on needs and potential training areas.
  • Monitor project developments on an ongoing basis. Propose and implement changes as needed.
  • Contribute material, prepare results, and assist in the writing of findings for proposals, presentations, and other documents

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's in social work required, Licensed Clinical Social Worker preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of postmaster's degree direct service experience. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working in mental health in Illinois, particularly working with underserved individuals and/or communities is required.
