Job Description:

Load and react chemicals. Ability to recognize and make decisions concerning batches under reaction. Additional responsibilities may include, bulk transfers, package goods transfers, flaking, drumming and other general plant duties.


Responsibilities:


  • Check all receipts for proper documentation, i.e. (Certificate of Analysis, correct material, quantity ordered, packaging), and accept all incoming raw materials for storage in the warehouse
  • Must monitor and maintain inventory of all finished goods, their preservation and storage
  • Load or charge correct amount of raw materials, and intermediates to manufacture a product as called for in a production batch ticket. Must be able to follow manufacturing operating procedure (MPOP) with minimum amount of guidance from lead operator or immediate supervisor.
  • Must be able to set up and startup flakers and/or pastillator to process product as required. Flake at a rate minimum of one (1) pound/second.
  • Must be able to setup hoses and pumps to transfer product from one vessel to another as directed by immediate leadman or supervisor.
  • Take inprocess and final samples with proper labeling from blenders and reactors for lab analysis
  • Set up packaging process, such as drumming, filling pails, totes, etc., as required by batch ticket
  • Load and offload incoming bulk shipments into designated storage tanks as directed
  • Ship and rotate products according to FIFO.
  • Receive, inspect, and analyze returned products to determine which goods meet repair criteria.
  • Log merchandise into the computer system
  • Responsible for the proper marking and isolation of offspec materials so these are not used in production and shipped out to customers.
  • Must be able to work independently with colleagues as required.
  • Must be able to handle related duties as needed. Must be amenable to shift work and overtime when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Clean tanks.
  • Maintain material identification and traceability
  • Observe gauges, dials, and control instruments
  • Operate chemical equipment
  • Start up, operate, monitor, control, change over, or shut down batch processes routinely, continuously or in case of emergency
  • Troubleshoot nonroutine process equipment problems or control instrumentation problems
  • Ability to identify the most commonly found visual nonconformities such as contamination, offcolor, offshape and thickness
  • Demonstrates knowledge of basic math skills
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Certifications:

  • HS degree or equivalent
  • 3 plus years of work experience
  • Chemical background not required, but strongly preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to pick up products for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Ability to stand or walk for eight hours
