Description

Richstone Family Center (RFC) is dedicated to preventing and treating child abuse and trauma; strengthening and educating families; and decreasing violence in families, schools and communities.

Since 1974, RFC has established itself to provide comprehensive services that include:

trauma focused treatment and therapy, crisis intervention, group support facilitation, parenting and anger management classes, home visits, psycho-educational and self-esteem building workshops, and youth academic support programs.


The Parent Educator/Home Visitor facilitates educational activities between parents and children and offers case management to families in the Parents As Teachers (PAT) program.

The Parent Educator will carry a caseload and provide bi-monthly home visits and help meet family goals.

The Parent Educator will be responsible for inputting client data into a database on a consistent basis, facilitating monthly group meetings, and assisting in planning and facilitation of outreach presentations.


Job Duties:


  • Conduct home visits and virtual visits to ensure safety and wellbeing; provide educational activities and case management on a regular, ongoing basis following PAT guidelines;
  • Conduct research on PAT online curriculum and teach parents how to implement activities;
  • Provide & explain parent handouts and child development information;
  • Provide quality case management to meet family needs
  • Make appropriate referrals to external resources and follow up to assure outcomes are being met;
  • Provide services including but not limited to: Yearly Intake, Family Assessment, Visit Planning, Visit Records, Milestone Forms, Health Records, assure hearing & vision tests are completed for children, ASQ3 & ASQ-SE, Resource & Referral linkages, Pre & Post Evaluations, Other screenings and Breastfeeding Tracking, etc.;
  • Consistently maintain accurate records of service in webbased database; maintain participant files; submit necessary documentation in a timely manner;
  • Facilitate monthly group meetings with parents and help build a resource & referral network;
  • Attend meetings, trainings and other related activities as directed by supervisor;
  • Assist in planning and facilitation of outreach meetings and presentations;
  • Attend and actively participate ingroup and individual reflective supervisions;
  • Mandated child abuse reporting as necessary;
  • Perform other duties as required;
  • Maintains confidentiality of client information and upholds HIPAA privacy rules;
  • Must maintain appropriate boundaries with clients, community partners, funders and other Richstone staff.

Qualifications:


  • BA/BS degree strongly preferred in human services, psychology or related field; will consider applicants with and AA degree from a twoyear community college.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working with atrisk families or in a similar capacity;
  • Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish preferred;
  • Excellent computer literacy skills; ability to use databases and online curriculums;
  • Ability to facilitate a group or parenting class;
  • Excellent communications skills both written and verbal;
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations of adults, youth and children;
  • Good judgment and problem solving skills;
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work well independently and as part of a team;
  • Knowledge of child development & community resource referrals;
  • Excellent research skills;
  • Must successfully pass Department of Justice background check;
  • Submit TB test or PPD Risk Assessment clearance;
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver license and current insurance.
