    Caterpillar's Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge electrified powertrain solutions, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the associated services and solutions. This includes areas such as batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, microgrid controllers, energy storage systems, and more for ePowertrain solutions across various industries.

    The role of Sr Engineering Manager – Electric Motors and Generators offers the opportunity to lead a team responsible for designing motors and generators for production, supporting existing components, expanding the supply base, and ensuring operational excellence. You will play a key role in shaping the strategy and execution of our full range of components to drive future applications across the organization.

    The Motor and Generator Components team at Caterpillar designs and develops a variety of motors and generators across different voltage and power classes used in CAT machinery and stationary applications. As Caterpillar continues to electrify its products, there is a growing need to develop a comprehensive product line to meet these demands. Collaboration across multiple functions is crucial in this dynamic development environment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Monitor and enhance product and process performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness for all engineering activities and deliverables.
    • Lead the delivery of top-notch components through New Product Introductions (NPI) processes and core component development.
    • Define strategies for current and future offerings, collaborating with manufacturing, procurement, and drivetrain partners to optimize the production value stream.
    • Address engineering, product, and manufacturing process or quality issues from conception to end-of-life.
    • Implement a sustainable motor and generator product line across all voltage and power classes.

    Degree Requirement:
    Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent (Master's preferred)

    Tactical, Strategic: Proficiency in effective planning techniques to contribute to the overall business plan at an operational, tactical, and strategic level. Extensive experience in developing and communicating tactical plans, aligning them with the strategic plan, leading cost reduction efforts, and resource allocation.

    Ability to analyze situations accurately and make informed decisions while considering financial implications. Experienced in selling ideas within the organization, improving decision-making processes, and providing optimized solutions.

    Technical Excellence:
    Demonstrated expertise in electrified systems integration, component design/development for motors/generators, and system-level requirements balancing. Strong mentorship and coaching skills to enhance technical competence and provide effective technical solutions.

    Communicating for Impact:
    Proficient in communicating complex ideas clearly and concisely, exhibiting a deep understanding of the field. Skilled in analyzing audience interests, ensuring mutual understanding, and recognizing verbal and nonverbal communication cues.

    Customer/Market Focus:
    Understanding the importance of staying attuned to shifting market priorities and addressing customer needs effectively to add consistent value. Experience in improving customer responsiveness, recommending new products/services based on customer needs, and adapting to market changes.

    Managing People:
    Knowledge of people management processes, team leadership, and conflict resolution at the workplace. Extensive experience in anticipating and managing interpersonal conflicts, consulting within the team, implementing coaching programs, and promoting employee development.

    Collaborating Globally:
    Proficient in building networks across different countries and cultures, fostering collaboration for positive business outcomes. Skilled in reconciling conflicting interests, facilitating group interactions, and driving collective intelligence to achieve shared goals.

    Influencing Through Expertise:
    Expertise in employing influencing tactics and strategies to deepen expertise, challenge decisions, and impact organizational outcomes. Proven ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, provide subject matter expertise, and coach others for skill development.
