RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Dental Practice Manager will have administrative responsibility for the day-to-day functioning of the Boriken Neighborhood Health Center Dental Services including access to current and new patients.

The Dental Practice Manager, under the supervision of the Dental Director and the Operations Director will ensure smooth operation and patient flow of the dental department.

Also, the Dental Practice Manager will provide guidance for patients in the area and help resolve any patient complaints that may arise in the Dental Department.


DUTIES:

Supervisory Responsibilities:_

  • Actively participate in the interview process for all Dental Assistants and PACs for hire; Direct supervision of all Dental Assistants and Dental PACs.
  • Monitors, coordinates, and adjusts dental staffing assignments to meet patients' and the practice needs.
  • Responsible for monitoring staff schedule, attendance, punctuality, performance/competency, and educational needs to assure the proper level of support for staff development and the optimal functioning of dental practices.

Essential Functions and Duties:


  • Assists in setting goals and identifying appropriate education for improving performance.
  • Has primary responsibility, along with the Dental Director, to develop appropriate protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversees inventory control and maintains adequate levels of supplies, equipment, and instruments in patient care areas; makes arrangements with Facilities/Purchasing department for repairs as necessary. Review supply requests with Dental Director on a periodic basis.
  • Responsible for department staff schedule and payroll.
  • Assist with prior authorizations.
  • Responsible for working with staff to address patient complaints and manages patient flow so that patient satisfaction is always maintained at its highest priority.
  • In collaboration with the Dental Director, produces monthly unit reports including numerical data related to productivity as well as outcomes of clinical measures and chart reviews.
  • Through coordination with Dental providers and Nursing, ensures clinical practice compliance with HRSA, Article 28, Managed Care/HMO, and Federal and State guidelines.
  • Assists Dental Director with chart review and related activities
  • With Director of Operations, reviews on a monthly basis.
  • Indicators being monitored by the department.
  • All patient and staff incidents and incident reports.
  • Opportunities for increasing access or patient volume.
  • Works with the billing department to ensure dental encounter reconciliation and proper coding for timely and accurate processing.
  • Attention given to strategic planning of systems, program development, clinical support management measures, outreach strategies, work culture enhancement and internal communication and consensusbuilding.
  • In collaboration with Nursing responsible for compliance and maintenance of AED and oversight of emergency equipment documentation.
  • In collaboration with Infection Control Committee responsible for all infection control practices in the units and supervising Dental Assistants in performing the following duties:
  • Proper discarding of all disposable items for each visit.
  • Assemble soiled instruments and place in sterilization area.
  • Clean treatment room surfaces with disinfectant solution.
  • Store instruments and trays in appropriate places.
  • Monitor sterilization of instruments and sterilization logs.
  • Monitor all spore testing including logging performance, mailing and all pertinent follow ups.
Perform other functions necessary for the proper care of patients and functioning of the Health Center and Council.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in community healthcare/dental industry.
  • 35 years of supervisory experience.
  • Fundamental computer literacy: ability to use MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent writing and data entry skills.
  • Administrative experience within a health care facility required.
  • Ability to speak Spanish required.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving ability.
  • Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication.

Pay:
$70, $73,000.00 per year


Experience:

- community healthcare/dental industry: 1 year (preferred)
