Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Housing Specialist/LIHTC Compliance Specialist to join our team. The Tax Credit Compliance Specialist is responsible for maintaining compliance with Low Income Housing Tax Credit regulations.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Conducts interviews of affordable housing applicants
  • Document collection necessary to complete LIHTC files
  • Create, maintain, and disseminate weekly tracking sheets
  • Participation in weekly conference calls
  • CreateTenant Income certifications
  • Monitors changes in LIHTC regulations and requirements and implements changes as indicated
  • Maintains tenant files in compliance with LIHTC requirements
  • Manages waitlists for compliance with LIHTC regulations and requirements
  • Participates in tax credit reviews by outside entities
  • Performs internal audits of tenant files
  • Possess knowledge of the DSS, SSA, HRA entitlements
  • Possess strong knowledge of housing subsidy. I.E. NY 1515, NYCHA PB Voucher, HPD/HDC/HCR Tenant based subsidy, ESSHI
  • Attain working knowledge of NYCHA processes
  • Complete subsidy packages when applicable
  • Possess knowledge of Federal Fair Housing Law and Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Annual training in these areas is required
  • Attends trainings as required successful completion of LIHTC training including a passing score on the exam
  • Attendance at weekly supervision meetings and departmental meetings as scheduled
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Individual in this position should possess strong organization skills and a detail oriented approach. Strong computer literacy skills are essential to this position. Must have certification in low income housing tax credits. Knowledge of HUD requirements and accounting experience is a plus. Good verbal and written communication skills are also required. Experience and/or education in working with people with disabilities is a plus.
