Duties:

This high-level role is situated in the Biological and Economic Analysis Division (BEAD) within the Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP), Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP). OPP's primary responsibility is to assess the risk posed by pesticides to humans and the environment by meticulously reviewing substantial amounts of data to adhere to regulatory deadlines for both new and existing pesticides. Key responsibilities include:
  • Supervising three branches and two laboratories supporting pesticide regulatory activities.
  • Managing programmatic issues and generating essential data on pesticide use for registration decisions.
  • Collaborating with senior officials from various governmental departments for effective implementation of environmental responsibilities.
  • Oversight of OPP's critical laboratories in Maryland for public health protection and homeland security efforts.
  • Development and evaluation of methods supporting national bioterrorism response efforts.
  • Validation of analytical methods for measuring pesticide residues.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and submit required documents.
Successful candidates will enter a 1-year probationary period and undergo background checks in accordance with regulations.

Qualifications:

This role falls under the Program Management, 0340 series, necessitating a blend of general management skills and technical expertise specific to the position. Candidates should possess:
  • Substantial management experience and specialized skills relevant to the role.
  • One year of comparable specialized experience near the level of this position.
  • Demonstrated leadership capacity aligning with Executive Core Qualifications (ECQ) such as Leading Change, Leading People, Business Acumen, and Building Coalitions.
