PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To provide support for the Elementary Spanish Volunteer Program.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Assist in the recruitment process for the volunteer Campus Elementary Spanish Volunteer Coordinators and Assistant Coordinators at each elementary campus.
Provide orientation training to Campus Elementary Spanish Volunteer Coordinators throughout the district at the beginning of the school year; may have an orientation later in the year for volunteers that sign up late.
Work with the World Languages Coordinator to update and maintain the Spanish Volunteer Program website.Coordinate the recruitment and placement of Spanish Volunteers to go to Elementary campuses 30 minutes per week to teach children Spanish lessons.
Prepare materials such as flyers to be included in first day packets.Assist in disbursement of materials.
Assist the World Languages Coordinator to inventory and order Spanish Programs for campuses as needed.
Attend campus and district events to recruit interested Spanish Volunteers.
Regularly communicate with World Languages Coordinator; meet in person approximately four times per year.
Organize end of school year inventory and program completion for the school year.
May research extra materials to purchase if additional budget.
Gather feedback and make recommendations for continuous improvement of program effectiveness.
Demonstrates regular and prompt attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Education/Certification/Experience:
Valid teaching certificate preferred. Bilingual certification in Spanish preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of Spanish volunteer program goals.
Skill in organizational and interpersonal relations.
Ability to communicate effectively with volunteers and campus staff.
Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands
Frequently communicates with LISD employees and public. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
Ability to understand, remember, and communicate routine, factual information.
Ability to organize and prioritize own work schedule on short-term basis.
Ability to make decisions which have moderate impact on immediate work unit.
Ability to compose letters, outlines, memoranda, and basic reports and/or to orally communicate technical information.
Ability to communicate with individuals utilizing a telephone, computer or other electronic device.
Use standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
