ABOUT THE ROLE:Trojan Battery Company is on the lookout for a Production Supervisor. This role gives you the chance to collaborate with a vibrant and analytical team that sets high standards for innovation and success in a rapidly growing setting.
The Production Supervisor will lead, organize, and distribute work, ensuring a top-notch and efficient environment. Use managerial skills and hands-on experience to achieve objectives. Uphold the highest safety standards for both employees and the environment. Maintain high-quality standards in Production Departments. Implement lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement strategies. Establish goals, train Team Leads and employees. Provide assistance to Trojan Management.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the allocation of all production activities for every shift.
- Ensure a safe workplace by complying with government regulations, OSHA standards, and company guidelines.
- Manage emergency response coordination responsibilities.
- Uphold product quality, process control, and work techniques.
- Use Six Sigma tools to enhance processes and drive change to minimize waste.
- Utilize Plex for inventory management, scheduling, order creation, production reporting, and product receiving.
- Plan production operations using MRP outputs and signal reports to guarantee timely completion and delivery of finished products.
- Monitor departmental budgets and set up scrap controls.
- Review physical inventories and schedule equipment changeovers.
- Allocate work to Team Leads to ensure safety, quality, and productivity.
- Organize production activities, including assembly line planning and operations.
- Review production schedules, materials, and manpower to maximize production while meeting quality standards and output requirements.
- Collaborate with various departments to implement cost-reduction programs and process enhancements.Keep an eye on safety and environmental aspects, maintain housekeeping standards, and stay alert for any hazardous conditions.- Train and maintain an efficient workforce according to skill requirements and work schedules.- Attend training sessions to stay current with relevant developments in the field.- Establish departmental performance measures, provide progress reports, and manage production metrics.- Analyze plant operations, detect trends, and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Work closely with support teams such as Technicians, Manufacturing Engineering, and Materials/Warehouse.
- Ensure compliance with quality system protocols and perform any other necessary duties.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct a team of direct reports, focusing on team building, goal achievement, motivation, coaching, and feedback.
- Cultivate a high-performance culture through active employee management.
- Identify training needs, cross-training opportunities, and engage in employee development.
- Ensure safety training, implement cross-training programs, and maintain high morale among employees.- Organize crew work assignments based on skills, knowledge, and equipment capacities.- Identify and address performance issues, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory role in manufacturing; battery industry experience is a plus.
- Associate's degree required (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Ability to multitask, provide effective leadership, and promote teamwork.
- Experience with lean manufacturing and process improvement.
- Proficient in ERP/Microsoft Office applications and ISO environments.
- Excellent communication skills and flexibility with shift availability.
- Fluency in English; Spanish proficiency is advantageous.
