***: The Development Associate (DA) plays an important role providing administrative support to the Development & Communications Office and participates in all fundraising activities, including but not limited to donor relations, campaigns, and special events. DA will work closely with all team members and colleagues, and supports in establishing connections/ relationships with individuals, corporations, foundations, both internal and external stakeholders, as well as with community partners. The work is excellent for someone looking to enhance their skills in a broad range of nonprofit development work, event planning, and finance/ reporting activities.

This position reports to the Chief Development Officer.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Contributes to proposals and donor reports, and drafts donorcentric communications like project updates, acknowledgement letters, financials and other correspondence.
  • Supports fundraising and prospect management activities for the Development team utilizing the organization's donor database (Bloomerang); processes donations, acknowledgement letters and other correspondence, executes internal financial reconciliations, fundraising report generation and dashboards.
  • Supports the operations and project management needs of the Development and Communications Department.
  • Assists with the organization's corporate, foundation, and individual donor and prospects, as well as community partners and board members as needed.
  • Works with development and all other Dimock employees and partners, consultants, and vendors to plan, implement and staff events such as the Road2Wellness 5KRun/ 2k Walk and other special events / engagement opportunities.
  • Promotes internal and external collaborations for a variety of initiatives and engages in relationship building.
  • Conducts research if needed using fundraising databases, news searches, and other tools to produce briefings for fundraisers and executive staff in preparation for donor and prospect meetings.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education**:

  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience

Experience:


  • 14 years of experience in a nonprofit development department, a grantmaking organization, or in private sector business development
  • Familiarity with prospect research, fundraising processes, and database management.
  • Event management or similar experience is helpful.

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Excellent writing, planning, and presentation abilities with strong verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Excellent administrative skills, including mail merges and database management.
  • Ability to manage a budget, understand financial reports and stay on target with goals, as well as collaborate closely with finance department, including reconciling donations monthly.
  • Strong capability to take on additional tasks when required, work independently, and highly motivated to take the initiative to constantly improve systems and processes. Selfdisciplined, actionoriented style.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, and constituent database software, preferably Bloomerang. Willing to train volunteers and other staff in using various technologies as needed.
  • Cultural competency and experience with diverse constituents is preferred.
  • Highly collaborative styles, skilled at relationship and consensus building.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including effectively interacting with people with a wide range of views. Skilled at establishing trusted partnerships throughout organization and with external stakeholders, using expert judgment when dealing with internal and external constituents.
  • Exercises discretion in maintaining and managing highlyconfidential information.
  • Strong ability to plan, organize, and prioritize under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Manages daytoday office operations activities (ordering supplies, stationery, etc.).
  • Brings a high level of energy with a proactive, positive, and collaborative approach to work and congeniality as part of a small, fastpaced team.
