General Description


The laundry assistant is responsible to see that all laundry is cleaned and returned in a timely, neat and proper manner.


HOURS OF WORK:

Laundry Assistant | Part-time, 1st shift, 7am-2:30pm, 3 days per week including every other weekend rotation


Personal Characteristics:

Must enjoy working with people especially elderly population.

Must have patience and a good work ethic.

Must comply with the facility Dress Code standard.

Maintains confidentiality of all resident information. Observes residents rights


Job Responsibilities, Duties and Authority:


  • Duties include, but are not limited to; sorts, washes, dries and folds all laundry.
  • Performs laundry procedures in a manner that leaves linens looking neat, clean, fresh, and bright and without damage. Sets aside tattered or worn linen and delivers appropriate linens to social services.
  • Cleans laundry carts, work tables, empties trash, sweeps and cleans dryer vents
  • Perform all duties in accordance with established policies and procedures, safety rules and regulations.
  • Adheres to sanitary, safety and infection control procedures for handling linens.
  • Keeps linen room in an orderly manner
  • Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis
  • Gives on the job training for new staff members
  • Maintains confidentiality of all residents
  • Observes residents rights'
  • Work in cooperation between other departments
  • Attends inservices and department meetings
  • Performs other and related duties as assigned

Working Conditions:


  • Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is involved with personnel, residents, families and other visitors under all conditions and circumstances.
  • May work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, temporarily in staff emergencies and to ensure proper care for all residents.

Minimum Training, Experience and Certification Requirements:

  • Must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written directions
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to be flexible
  • Excellent customer service and people skills, demonstrate compassion, patience and understanding with a willingness to do whatever it takes to provide the highest level of service
  • Completes assignments on time and to the satisfaction of the customer
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and conversations
  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of the job
  • Able to maintain good working relationships with other personnel
  • No certification required
