Position Summary:


As the Human Resource Assistant, you will help oversee the entire employee lifecycle and manage relevant administrative systems with direct supervision from the Human Resource Manager.

You will make a great leader here if you are passionate about making St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care an amazing place to work for all team members, from hourly employees to management.

You will take a hands-on approach ensuring employees have an environment where they are supported and set up for success.

This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.


Serving as a vital member and a key resource for all things people matter, you will coach our teams on employee relations, compliance with relevant laws and ordinances, while championing our strong internal culture.

You'll help oversee benefits administration, employee communication, and people data. As our HR support, you'll help support with hiring, interviews, and performance management.


You must be committed to creating and supporting a culture where employees are not only valued but have a voice in the success of St.

Ann Center.

You should naturally advocate for a people-first, high-performance culture emphasizing a caring community, sharing compassion for others, reverencing creation, and peacemaking.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage core HR functions including employee relations, performance management, employee engagement and retention, benefits, and risk management
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and all other HR functions
  • Help develop and continue to improve HR systems (Paycom), procedures, policies, and programs for the organization that provide for employee wellbeing and protect St. Ann Center
  • Champion and promote St. Ann Center's Franciscan values and peoplefirst culture; plan initiatives and events that celebrate and center our growing team
  • Partner with all department directors to promote and train effective people problem solving to ensure root causes are addressed and resolved in a timely manner
  • Cultivate and share employee data to help make us better decisions about resources, training, and opportunities
  • Conduct benefits orientations and oversee annual benefits open enrollment process, serve as a liaison between employees and insurance carriers
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding process to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to HR and ensure St. Ann's compliance with relevant laws and regulations across Stein and Bucyrus campuses
  • Staying abreast of innovative ideas, trainings, resources, and communication tools

Education and Training:

  • Bachelors of Art in Psychology, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or related field
  • Have 24 years' experience in Human Resources Management in the nonprofit sector, preferred

Skills/Abilities:

  • Have a passion for ensuring the best employee experience.
  • Can manage multiple initiatives and projects and prioritize needs
  • Are highly collaborative with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Can make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using sound judgment that is consistent with company policies and federal and state laws.
  • Possess a drive to implement new and innovative solutions to help solve issues and improve the employee experience
  • Understand state labor and other regulatory employment laws in Wisconsin
  • Can engage with all levels of the organization including executive team, management, and team members
  • Have a reputation as a leader of high integrity who can be trusted with confidential personal and business information
  • Can travel to both Stein and Bucyrus campuses
