Description

We are currently seeking a Research Assistant for Product Assurance/Quality Assurance within our research group, Experimental Quantum Optics and Quantum Information, at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Plandome Heights.

Our group is part of a consortium of universities and research institutes across Germany with extensive experience in constructing and conducting quantum optics experiments in microgravity environments.

Some notable projects include the MAIUS mission, launched on a sounding rocket, and the QUANTUS project, continuously performed in a drop-tower in Bremen.

Our next major project, the DLR-NASA BECCAL (Bose-Einstein Condensate and Cold Atom Lab), will be a payload for the International Space Station, serving as a multi-user and multi-purpose quantum-optics experimental apparatus.

We are currently in the final stages of designing and building a compact and lightweight optical distribution system to cool, trap, and manipulate ultra-cold atoms for this project.

We are looking for a research assistant with a specialization in product assurance/quality assurance to join our team.

You will work alongside motivated PhD students and postdocs and have the opportunity to collaborate with other members of the consortium.

This position is a fixed-term contract with the potential for extension, and the salary will be based on the German tariff (TV-L E13).

Primary tasks for this role include performing risk and reliability management for the optical splitting and distribution system for the BECCAL payload, generating and maintaining quality assurance and product assurance documentation, participating in material, part, and
