Overview:
This is a hybrid position with an Irvine hub.


Hiring Range:
$200K - $230K.


Responsibilities:


  • Develops and executes the strategic IT security roadmap aligned with organizational objectives and industry best practices, leveraging leadingedge technologies such as Zscaler and OKTA.
  • Assumes ownership of IT Security budget as well as developing, maturing and enforcing IT Security policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with other members of IT Leadership to integrate security considerations into IT projects, initiatives, and operations. Works collaboratively with other members of the IT Leadership team to help develop and sustain a high level of operational effectiveness across IT functions.
  • Identifies, assesses, and mitigates IT security risks to protect sensitive data, intellectual property, and infrastructure assets. Ensures that no reportable breaches occur, implementing proactive measures to mitigate risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Designs and implements robust security architectures, frameworks, and controls to safeguard against cyber threats.
  • Establishes and manages incident response plans and procedures to effectively respond to and recover from security incidents, breaches, and vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborates with Compliance on all matters surrounding IT Security. Ensures compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices for IT security.
  • Develops and delivers IT security awareness programs and training initiatives to educate employees and stakeholders on cybersecurity best practices and policies.
  • Assesses and manages security risks associated with thirdparty vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Acts as the inhouse expert on all matters related to IT security, providing guidance and insight to senior management and staff. Provides insight into IT Security best practices to senior management of ESSC, facilitating informed decisionmaking.
  • Functions as a mentor to members of the IT security team, the IT leadership team, and ESSC leadership, fostering professional growth and development.
  • Generates respect for and appreciation of IT security throughout the organization, promoting a culture of security awareness and accountability.
  • Interacts with external security consultants, as needed, to enhance, develop, and support IT security initiatives and capabilities.
  • As needed, updates the Board and senior management on the status of IT security within ESSC, providing regular reports and updates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security or Computer Science or equivalent field(s)/experience; Master's degree in Information Security preferred.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) required. Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) preferred.

EXPERIENCE:


  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in IT security, 5 years in IT Security leadership roles, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience with HIPAA highly desired.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:


  • Demonstrated expertise in Zscaler and OKTA preferred.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful IT security strategies, programs, and initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit or notforprofit environment preferred.
  • Experience with NIST or HITRUST certification.
  • Experience leading hybrid and remote teams.
