Description
The L.D. Batchelder Elementary School is seeking a full year General Music and Chorus Teacher Long-Term Substitute.

In this role, you will provide vocal instruction for students in grades 4 and 5, and general music instruction for students in grades K-5.

The Music Teacher supports each student in the acquisition of basic skills, an understanding of the structure of music, vocal care, and motivates each student to work through the chorus/general music curriculum while providing them with a meaningful musical experience.


This assignment is tentatively from September 3, 2024 through June 18, 2025 (the anticipated last day of the school year).

New educators will be required to attend the two day new staff orientation on dates still to be determined.

Essential duties

  • Plan a music program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
  • Extend student music experiences into the general, wider community
  • Instruct all levels of chorus, from small group instruction to large ensembles, on sightreading, and music literacy
  • Prepare and direct student musicians in school concerts
  • Work cooperatively with other Performing Arts Department staff members in preparation for concerts
  • Keep accurate records of student achievement
  • Be available to communicate with parents/guardians as needed
  • Value the role of socialemotional development in children plus knowledge of child development as it relates to a music curriculum
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Designee

Requirements:


  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) license in Music: Vocal/Instrumental/General, all levels
  • Master's Degree, preferred
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations that govern public schools
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
